What free agents are likely on their way out?

Are they really gonna pursue Alex Smith?

He will be a pinata for the NY media before his plane even lands.

If I were Jets brass I would bust hump to make the O and D lines as good as they possibly can be, given the financial limits, and  bring back the skill positions they've got, and hope Revis pulls the defensive version of Adrian Peterson. This is their only hope aside from conceding total rebuilding mode imo.

I can't see ANYONE wanting to goto the Jets after this past year.  May as well just play all rookies and call the season a wash.  IF they were to get Smith, I bet Sanchez starts off the season as starter again.

I'd trade the #39 pick for Cousins in a heartbeat. not sure if that would be enough though.

they're going to need a very cheap QB and the #9 pick will be neither cheap nor a lock to be their franchise QB. any veteran they get will be too expensive and just a stopgap (eg Alex Smith or a trade for Flynn).

Edited by jsp2014, 31 December 2012 - 01:07 PM.

I will never draft Francisco Liriano ever again.

how quickly we forget that he led the Jets to 2 AFC championship games with Mark Sanchez at QB. any defense would fall apart after losing a player of Revis' importance. he has made his mistakes and the team has been a circus but he deserves to stick with the team and try to dig them out of this mess.

In 09 and 10.  What's he done since?  Two seasons have gone by, each progressively worse.  It's like Andy Reid, there's only so many chances you can give him.  This season was a debacle.

Sanchez is a terrible QB.

He lost control of the team and locker room last year and appears to have had the same issue this year. He signed off on bringing in Tebow to create a media draw (as hes got the biggest most obvious ego of any head coach), then doubled down on stupid with his handling of the QB situation. He hired Sparano which led to an even worse offense and was on board with the resigning of Sanchez as hestubbornly stuck by him. Now it looks like his defensive coordinator wants out (turned down an extension earlier in the year) as well. His faults are myriad and his personality and demeanor help to divide that team as he is solely a defensive guy and a "look at me" guy too boot. Hes shown ability as a great defensive coach but I dont see too much to make me think hes a great head coach, let alone one worth retaining after the two garbage seasons the Jets have had and yes 2011 was garbage the way that team fractured  and folded down the stretch.

Sanchez will be the QB for as long as Rex Ryan is coach. Sanchez does have physical skills but he is terrible at making snap decisions on the field, he needs to be coddled and have a line up of all stars around him who will make plays when plays break down or he mucks up. I sort of get the impression that Sanchez is an all star at practice, but it doesn't translate to actual games.

Agree with dzemens. Ryan is a terrible head coach and this team wont improve as long as he's the coach. Their record this year was really misleading, they deserved to be a 2-14 team, but a few times teams they played, played slightly worse than they did, and a few times their defense bailed them out. It would have better if they tanked, they could have cleaned slate and started fresh in 2013.

We do forget quickly. Just a few years ago the Jets were saying Mark Sanchez was amazing for losing in two AFC title games. Now that Rex Ryan is realizing what most people knew about Mark Sanchez the day he was drafted Rex Ryan led the team there?

One of the problems here is that this year's draft is not a big offensive draft. There is no Luck, RG3, or T-Richardson in this one. It is a pretty good defensive draft, but the Jets need offensive help. This is a long term process, they will suck next year, probably get a top 5 pick, and hope that there are some offensive playmakers next year.

There's really not even any sure-fire offensive linemen out there this year.

Chance Warmack out of Alabama is a guard, not a tackle.

Eric Fisher from CMU looks good and projects as a top half of the first round pick, but he's still from CMU.

And Lewan from Michigan is the only other guy I can think of.

Well, this is a tidy summation of the Jets' last few seasons...

Rex Ryan gets a Mark Sanchez Tattoo - Sort Of

Posted Image

Fetish videos, a media circus, and unwavering loyalty - gotta love my Jets.

Also, the lengths that reporters go to is ridiculous. Just look at this shot: they tracked him down in the Bahamas and, by the look of it, hid in a brush, waiting for the perfect moment.
"I think that life would suddenly seem wonderful to us if we were threatened to die. Just think of how many projects, travels, love affairs, studies, it--our life--hides from us, made invisible by our laziness which, certain of a future, delays them incessantly.

'But let all this threaten to become impossible forever, how beautiful it would become again! Ah! If only the cataclysm doesn't happen this time, we won't miss visiting the new galleries of the Louvre, throwing ourselves at the feet of Miss X, making a trip to India.

'The cataclysm doesn't happen, we don't do any of it, because we find ourselves back in the heart of normal life, where negligence deadens desire. And yet we shouldn't have needed the cataclysm to love life today. It would have been enough to think that we are humans, and that death may come this evening."

LOL we knew he all had a man crush on Sanchez, this just brings it to a whole new level though.  This should be a fun saga to watch unfold.  ESPN will feature this over my Seahawks kicking the crap out of the Redskins on Sunday now though.

The aggy OT's are both expected to be top 40 picks.  Joeckel is expected to be a top 10-15 pick and could land in the top 5 if he has good workouts.

It's not even about the Wins/Losses... I honestly dont understand how anyone can be a fan of this organization. The decades of ineptitude + becoming the modern day joke of the NFL ... I just dont understand how anyone can support this franchise.

I'd actually feel bad for the jets diehards if 90% of their fans werent so obnoxious when the jets became relevant for 2 years. At this point its just sad (still kinda funny).
