A source tells Yahoo Sports' Jeff Passan that Byron Buxton suffered a concussion but no broken bones after his collision in the outfield Wednesday.
According to Passan, a CT scan taken after the game came back negative. The Twins prospect is said to have been knocked unconscious for 10 minutes after the collision with Double-A New Britain outfielder Mike Kvasnicka. Concussions are nasty afflictions, but all in all it's a better outcome than it could have been. Buxton's 2014 may be over, though.

Must be a hell of a concussion if he didn't even move for 10 minutes. That's no ordinary concussion.

Twins have the worst luck ever. Tears are brewing... sadness all the time.

Looking at this image, it's easy to see why he was unconscious for 10 minutes. Took the other OF's thigh/knee to the back of his head. That poor guy is going to be dealing headaches for several days.

I'd rather he have a broken collarbone then a concussion. It may sound crazy but look at morneau. I hope he has a speedy recovery

Video is all over ESPN right now. Buxton got destroyed and even more impressively, despite the collision, the other guy caught the ball and he was down for a little while too.

It seems way too early to say he's "OK." He was knocked unconscIious for 10 minutes and taken to the hospital by ambulance. He might have seemed ok to observers or something, but the effects of a concussion can kind of linger a little bit from what I understand about them. I'm no doctor or anything, but I'm not entirely sure how they come up with "he's ok" on the same night that it happened and it also seems a bit early to speculate on whether he should come back and play this year after having gone through that. The Twins should err on the side of caution, especially taking into account their history with concussed players.

Perhaps they're referencing the broken collarbone he was thought to have? I agree with you regarding the concussion...too early to say he's okay after a collision that knocked him out for several minutes and left him with a concussion.

Byron Buxton (concussion) isn't expected to play in the Minors again this season, per Terry Ryan. Hopeful for Arizona Fall League.

Rhett Bollinger@RhettBollinger
The good news on Byron Buxton is that his only symptom from the concussion is headaches. No sensitivity to light/sound. Some neck stiffness.

So you're telling me I just copied the same thing to paste here for no reason!!

Hopefully his symptoms don't linger like Morneau's, and others. It sucks to see the best prospect in the game have such an unlucky year. Now it's even more unlikely we see him in the bigs in 2015.
