Does he have any value? He muffed two punts and bobbled another in last night's preseason game, he is probably fourth on the depth charts, and hasn't really shown much. Only bright spot for potential is that the 49ers picked him in the 2nd round of the draft, so you'd think they have some kind of plans for the guy...??

As a Niner fan, I'm pretty sure Harbaugh's been holding LMJ back in the preseason. A few of their beat writers think this way too. That being said, I don't expect much value from him. I do see Harbaugh having a nice few package plays for LMJ this year -- they will use him.

What about his value in dynasty leagues. He was awesome in college and is a better between the tackles runner than ppl think. Of course inside running isnt as easy on the NFL level but overall I like LaMichael James. You guys think he emerges as a fantasy difference making RB in a yr or 2?

Honestly with the emergence of smaller backs such as Spiller, Sproles, CJ2K, as well as the emergence of hybrid receivers such as Harvin, Cobb, and Hilton I think James is the backup to own in Frisco. This line can open some gaping holes as we've seen them do all season for Gore, holes that a guy like James can surely exploit....

If Frisco decides to rest Gore, anyone else see James being a factor down the stretch? Sure Jacobs will be the guy in the redzone, but I can definitely see Frisco using James in an expanded role going forward.

Loved him in college wanted the Giants to take him... Lost Andre Brown/Parmale in my 14 teamer ... not gonna burn a claim but will add him in the morning if still available.

Perfect 3rd down type Rb... maybe a deep league flex in ppr leagues

unless youre in deep dynasty ppr...or just dynasty...I wouldn't pick him up just yet. at least wait till he's active on a gameday, lol.

Before I go on my true thoughts about him let me just say I did grab him in my dynasty as a stash just in case.  The crazy thing about football is you never know who will break out.

With that said I think his 2012 value is about 0.  Next year that should rise with Jacobs out of San Fran and Gore 50/50 to be out.  He's obviously not going to start over Kendall Hunter but he could be one injury away from getting a lot of playing time.

I don't know how much upside is here though.  The comparisons to Harvin are way too optimistic, I see him more as a Dexter McCluster type player or at best a Jacquizz Rodgers.  Hopefully he gets some playing time but I don't see him ever being more than a bye week fill in type player IF he is used like McCluster in the passing game.

Hopefully I'm wrong though since I have him now haha.

He was absolutely electric at Oregon and i wouldnt be surprised if he did indeed run a 4.2 40 yard dash. I look at him as a smaller deangelo Williams and i think if the guy gets a chance he can be servcieable; However, once Gore breaks down, Hunter will replace him and James may see a backup role for the next 2-3 years depending on Hunters play.

How can you be bad when your name is Lemichael James? It's the greatest name you can have in sports.

Inactive again, even with Kendall Hunter now done for the year. Maybe if Gore went down he'd get involved in some way but his fantasy outlook for this season is extremely grim.

In what little time he saw, he looked explosive.  I was very surprised at how he has bulked up over the course of the season compared to how he looked in college.  He must have packed at least 10lbs of muscle on to his thighs.  I think he's worth a look in dynasty leagues for 2013, Hunter has an torn Achilles, could be out half of next season.

I tend to think top-seeded teams (i.e. 1 and 2) tend to duke it out till the end if they know they have that bye week. If they can grab home field advantage throughout its a big deal.

Same reasoning attaches to Houston and NE at this point. Wouldn't be surprised to see Peyton play week 17 either.

Does James get 10+ offensive touches this week? I need alternatives with Sidney Rice out. James looked pretty good last week and with Jacobs banished and Kendall Hunter on IR, he's basically the #2 guy for carries. Got a big decision to make.

Too many questions involving touches if you ask me. Your taking a big chance that he gets enough carries to be productive in only his second time being active all season.  A lot of questions for a playoff matchup.

Hunter and James have pretty much the same build... they're both "change of pace guys", yes?  If so, won't they be competing for the same carries once Hunter is back?

What do you think the SF backfield will look like next season?  Hunter and James are both on the wire in my keeper league... just trying to figure out if one is worth the investment.
