the reason he is off the bench is to provide offense in the second unit.

I don't agree. He wasn't move due to the jazz needing offense in the second unit. He was moved cause he was struggling in the first unit, mostly due to Utah's bigs being black holes. Yes he has played better/found his groove with the second unit, but I think his play has earned him a chance to get back into the starting 5, and he should be playing 35+ minutes every night.

That's not primarily the reason but it is related to that one.  As you said, he struggles in the starting lineup because of the bigs because he won't get the touches he deserve.  I actually don't like him in the starting lineup where his production offensively will get a hit.  Instead, come off the bench where the ball is in his hands more and still play 35+ mins a night.

Well I guess the most important thing is the minutes. It kills me to watch both Utah and their starting guards struggle and have Hayward play only 22 minutes when he is playing the best ball on the team.

I really hope Hayward gets locked into some heavy minutes for this last stretch of the season. I need a reliable SG to back up Paul George heading into the playoffs.

Couldn't be happier picking him up from free agency.

Love me some Hayward. I still think he should be starting. He could be doing exactly what parsons is doing. I'd love to see him get 38 minutes one night.

I have a feeling in my gut he may be earning some extra minutes with his play. 31 minutes, 26 points tonight. That will get a coach's attention.

And 34 min last game too. I think we are already seeing an uptick in PT.

Let's go to overtime please!

He might be better as the 6th man on this team. It allows Big Al/Millsap to get shots early and get going. He is the primary scorer for the second unit and stays in for the fourth.

He's played the second most minutes tonight on the team.

I like the Parsons comparison from earlier. If anything Hayward is an even more polished version of Parsons who would thrive in Houston's up-tempo system in much the same way. Whatever role he has been playing the last 3 games should continue and as long as the minutes are there I don't mind if he continues coming off the bench the rest of the season.

Despite only scoring 11 points last night, you have to love that he is filling the stat sheet.

The most important number to look at: 37 min

His playing time was the factor bottlenecking his potential for much of the season (averaging only 27 min), but he has now played 3 straight games with at least 34 minutes! That, my friends, is HUGE for his value moving forward.

It's clear the Jazz recognize he will need to play a major roll for this team, and I am happy he is on the roster heading into this final stretch.

Minutes, Minutes, Minutes!

Like discussed earlier in this thread: Even if he's the 6th man, he is getting valuable minutes and playing down the stretch.
