Eric Gordon 2012-2013 Season Outlook

Per RW front page:
Eric Gordon will be limited in training camp due to "right knee soreness.
Uh oh. It's hard to say whether Gordon has suffered a setback, or if his right knee is going to be a chronic problem, or if the Hornets are just going to be careful with him until the regular season starts, but regardless of what the exact problem is, this is a huge red flag on Gordon for the upcoming season. It's hard to believe the Hornets would have matched Phoenix's four-year offer if his knee didn't check out well with team doctors, so we'll just have to wait as more details are sure to emerge in the near future. But if you have a fantasy hoops draft coming up in the next week or so, it might be wise to let someone else deal with Gordon and his knee again this season. He made it through just nine games last year. Austin Rivers might end up getting the starting SG job if Gordon's knee continues to be a problem.

Henry's actually a very capable defender from what I've seen. Offensively, his stats don't look so good, but Monty Williams likes to emphasize defense so it might not be too bad.

Eric Gordon, who was shut down by the Hornets for all contact work during the first week of training camp, is not expected to do much in the upcoming week, either as he continues to have trouble with his surgically repaired right knee.
The Hornets play three exhibition games in four days this week, beginning Tuesday, and at this point you have to wonder if Gordon will play in a single preseason game. Gordon is dropping quickly on our cheat sheets and things couldn't be looking much worse after the Hornets matched a big offer from the Suns, despite the fact he played in just nine games last season. The Hornets are "erring on the side of caution," but Gordon's knee looks like it could be an issue (again) for most of the season.

He is really no different than guys like Stephen Curry, Brandon Roy, and Greg Oden. Guys who live their dream to play professional sports only to see injuries greatly impact their career. He is young enough he might be able to get past this and still have a productive career. But, it is unlikely his career will end up as bright as expected. Never say never, though. Look at Grant Hill.
Meanwhile, his stock in fantasy drops greatly. I don't think I could draft him any higher than 8th or 9th round in a 12 team league and even then I would feel like I was taking a big risk.
He is a really good person and very active with youth in the Indianapolis area. I hope he can get healthy and get his career back on track.

I have no clue how good/bad the Hornets' medical staff is, but it really seems like Eric Gordon is someone who could have benefited greatly from the Suns' medical staff.
