That is like comparing efficient apples & oranges who can't shoot.  Drummond shot like 50% FG & 25% FT in college while Valanciunas is an efficiency machine shooting around 80% FT & closer to 60% FG.  I could see Drummond maybe blocking like 1/2 a shot more than Jonas but he doesn't have the clear path to PT Valanciunas does and he's pretty much inferior in every category except for blocks.  I'm not saying he isn't worth a last-round pick, since if he does get moved to starting C & Monroe to PF like was talked about pre-season he could be very valuable, but just think of that as a best-case, not something that's going to happen. Remember those stats were from pre-season games in which the Pistons played Monroe & the rest of their starting front line like 20 minutes/game.

I think he had the same problem as Cousins with his head.

Drummond was maybe the best talent in the draft after Davis, his NBA-comparsion is Amare Stoudemire or Marcus Camby with scoring. Sky is the limit for this kid. He dominated College and Highschool with his body. He had a mentales problem and must learn to work on his talent.

Haha you make it sound like they're out there talking to trash cans or slitting the throats of stray dogs.  Cousins is just a little immature & out of control & Drummond maybe so but not as bad as Cousins it seems.  Being immature & having "head & mental problems" are a bit different.

I think this is going to be a watch & learn type year. Probably 15-18 minutes per, just trying to learn how to play at this level.

I agree with you but Cousins definitely has some Artest-crazy in him. Don't see that in Drummond though, he just has no love for any media.

Way more athletic than Valanciunas.  Drummond is freaky agile for being so big.  Numbers this year will favor Valanciunas, but I'd take Drummond long term.  Detroit got an absolute steal in the draft.  Drummond's skillset is much more unique than Valanciunas imo.

Yeah if not by season's end, maybe next year, I expect Drummond to be the Ben Wallace to Greg Monroe's Rasheed.

His offensive game is limited but he's a beast on defense and can average 10 rebounds when given the starting job.

Seems like he could come on late in the year if/when the Pistons are out of the playoffs

I see where you're going with this & I do agree that Cousins has some crazy in him.  However, I don't think he is "dangerous crazy" like Artest (name now MWP, case in point).  I honestly think you are forgetting about how crazy Artest really is.  The whole "Malice At The Palace" thing was like his 9th offense.  The guy used to take shots of hard liquor at half-time haha!!  Even now that he is in therapy and treated with SSRI/Mood Stablizers he still tried to knock the beard off James Harden.

+1. I believe the Pistons are going to tinker with a combination of Maxiell, Drummond, CV and maybe Jerebko at the 4 until they decide to tank the season... When they do, thats when they'll probably just let Drummond play it out & (hopefully) eats people alive after the AS break.

Pistons are 2-9. Time to tank the season and give Drummond heavy minutes...lol ok that's the fantasy owner in me wishing for Detroit to unleash him but realistically how long can they go without throwing him out there full time? His production per minute is really good...

They're trying to bring him along slowly because of how raw he is. I'll assume he'll be a starter in the second half of the season.

This beast needs to be freed from his cage... According to Hollinger, his PER ranks him as the 15th most efficient player... I think this kid could be more valuable than Jonas Valanciunas by the end of the season.
