Also, that other guy who tore his ACL last April 28th, who I guess came back too early since he didn't take the full 12 months, looks like he's doing OK.

He may be okay, but the question you have to ask is whether he's 110%?

Just stop. Cleared to play does not mean game ready. It just means that you can ramp up activity as much as you want.

Excerpt from Simmon's article http://www.grantland...estions-part-2:

"As Magic put it, When you're ready, you know. If you're wondering even a little? Then you don't know. I think that's where Derrick Rose is right now. He's in his own head. He doesn't totally trust his knee yet. His hammies still hurt. And yet … he feels horrible that he can't help his team. So he's vacillating, and fortunately, GILBERT ARENAS keeps flashing through his head in all caps. Over everything else, that's Arenas's real legacy. Nobody wants to be The Next Guy Who Came Back Too Soon."

Simmons is so far off. He's an entertaining read, but as usual, the content of his writing is lacking. Arenas is an awful comparison.  First off, its not even the same injury. Gilbert had lack of cartilage issues which these days are a lot more damaging than a torn ACL. He also had microfacture surgery. There's a reason B Roy's career is over while Shumpert and Rubio are playing the best ball of their careers. Also, Gilbert came back before doctors cleared him. Rose has been cleared for two months. If Rose was coming back after 6 months then it would be a decent comparison.

Nobody takes 12+ months to come back from an ACL tear these days. Rose himself has said he's 100% physically so the hamstring stuff is nonsense. The "muscle memory" excuse is even worse. The guy has been practicing full-out for 2 months now. He's either sitting out on purpose to prove a point or he's mentally weak (no athlete that I can think of has struggled with the mental side of this injury as much as Rose has). Either way, Bulls fans (not Rose fanboys) can't be happy.

that's not bill simmons words, that's magic's words written by bill. plus why are you telling us? go tell rose that he wont be the next gilbert maybe that'll convince him

Saw it last night that he has been ruled out. Everyone's saying he should be ruled out for the rest of the year.

Thing is the Bulls went as far as they would have anyway with or without Rose.

This just in.... Derrick Rose will be ready to go next season. Thanks for the update.

Rose didn't play all season after suffering a torn left ACL and MCL in Game 1 of last year's playoffs. The saga of whether he would return to the lineup reached nauseating levels in the second half of the year and he'll likely be dogged by questions about it all summer long. The good news is that he should be 100 percent when training camp opens next fall, which should mean a very long and productive season once Rose shakes off the rust.
