Brian McCann had a disappointing season in 2012 and much of it can be attributed to a bum shoulder that cause him considerable pain and discomfort.  He had surgery to fix this issue and should be good to go sometime in April.  The latest report I've seen is that he's feeling great, but doc's won't let him go full throttle until March/April.

Assuming his shoulder woes are behind him, do you expect a rebound season from McCann?  Or is he on the decline?

If he slides far enough, then he is an easy value pick. McCann was always a top hitting catcher when healthy. It seemed like just one fluke year with the injury. Easy call for a solid bounce back year.

His current ADP is as the 14th catcher. While that's appealing, he may not be ready for opening day thanks to the shoulder surgery. I might be missing out on some great value but torn labrums scare me. A lot. I'll likely pass on this guy but may try to buy low if he gets off to a slow start.

Won't touch him.  Coming off labrum surgery and may not be ready to start the year.  His power will probably be slow to comeback.  Unless he goes super late or for extremely cheap in my auction league like $1 he will be on no teams of mine.

Shoulder injuries are scary and they take a long time to recover from.  I think McCann is a great stash but you may need to carry a backup in case his power doesn't return right away.

Exactly. And most people don't want to roster a backup catcher

There's so many catchers this year, I think I might pass on McCann and save myself a headache.

It is now being reported on sportsline that he has looked good and that they are targetting a mid April return which is great news.

He's going REALLY late in drafts.  I think I'm going to end up with him on some teams.

People who frequented the McCann thread last year will be happy to know my draft went by on Saturday and I no longer am the pissed off owner of Brian McCann.  So this thread will probably be a lot more peaceful this season.  Best of luck :)
