Who is the top out-of-nowhere fantasy pickup of the year? Below are the main candidates in my opinion (in no particular order).

1. Danario Alexander
2. Cecil Shorts
3. Bryce Brown
4. Knowshon Moreno
6. James Jones
7. Josh Gordon
7. T.Y. Hilton
8. Golden Tate
9. Vick Ballard
10. Brandon Myers (given the weakness at the TE position)

I left out Alfred Morris (who seems to be a name mentioned a lot in this discussion) since he was named starter prior to Week 1 and anyone who paid attention to preseason/Rotoworld, etc. would have known he was in the running for the starting gig in Washington.

Who do you got?

I have a fuzzy memory but if I remember correctly I'm pretty positive that Alfred Morris was not named prior to week 1 and it wasn't revealed until later... there were lots of "Shenanigan's" involved in the beginning with the RB's of WAS. Out of the list mentioned above I'm going DX esp since it looks like he finally has things figured out. I remember when he was on the Rams and was always injured/terrible. Go figure he leaves and he's good...

It's Denario Alexander to me....just because of the fact that he wasn't even on a roster to start the season.

I've picked up 5 of those players and my vote is between Cecil and DX.  I'm leaning slightly towards Cecil because of the crap team he's on and because of who is QB is.  But either of those guys have been the most consistent and just absolute studs.

Didn't even think of that.  He came in week 9 and has just gotten better with each passing week.

He was named starter immediately before Week 1 (i.e. within an hour of gametime). Either way, he was a star in the preseason (even sat out the final game with the rest of the starters) and the Redskins did not name their starting RB until right before the game, so he was definitely in the running for the job.

I still say Alfred Morris. There was so much speculation on who would start and even when Morris became the starter there was speculation as to how long he would remain the starter.

Selected in round 7 of my league. Unfortunately not by me I had him reserved for 8-9 along with guys like Rudolph and Bennett. Obviously he turned out greater than I expected but certainly did not come out of nowhere.

I don't know what % Morris was owned in before week 1 but he was drafted in my 10-team league so I mean I think people who did their homework most likely knew about him.

It's gotta be Cecil. Danario has been great, but Cecil was around and helping teams for much longer. James Jones carried teams earlier in the year, but has disappeared lately when teams need him. Bryce Brown would have gotten the vote, but he ruined a lot of peoples seasons today.
Bring back Ray!

I thought o f Chris Givens (even owned him earlier in the year during his consecutive 50+ yard catch streak). I think he's been way too inconsistent though and really can't be trusted just yet. With that said, I should probably remove Golden Tate as well.

Moreno later on in the season, as well as Kaepernick.
Hilton from early to mid-season.
Leshoure early on.
D.Alexander (serious regret here not grabbing him when I had the chance).

I drafted Mikel LeShoure with my last pick in the draft. Not sure how many drafts he was taken in.

Edit: 2nd to last pick.

I didn't realize Cobb was drafted in most leagues. without checking, he probably was drafted in mine too. I just remember that one early week where both Jones and Cobb went off and they were both on the waiver wire at that point in my league.
