12 team 6X6 mixed (+OBP and L), $275 cap, 5 keepers.  I have 4 no-brainer keepers.  They are:

Trout - $7
C. Gonzalez - $11
Cano - $26
Beltre - $18

For my 5th keeper, I have what seems like a no-brainer: Chase Headley at $4.  However, I already have a 3B, and catcher is always a thin position.  I could keep Carlos Santana (who I love next year) for $10.  Should Santana be in considerations for this spot, or should I go with the cheap Headley (who I don't love, but is easily worth $4) and forget it?

Leave a link for help on yours.

Headley did kill it second half last year but I kind of like Santana.  Maybe its the PetCo factor but not sure I see Headley repeating those numbers.  Santana turned it on in the second half as well and will have an improved lineup around him.  Add to the fact your have Beltre, and Santana could be a top 3 at the position..think I`d roll the dice.

Headley. He took a huge step forward last year and showed that he is a great hitter. Even better is the fact that he was decent at Petco too, which shows he wasn't a huge fluke. The catcher class is deeper than ever this year, with so many solid starters, it's not necessary to keep Santana. He is extremely streaky and there are so many solid catchers that come later in the draft (McCann, Rosario, Vmart, Perez, Montero (both), Lucroy, Wieters, and Pierzynski). It's not worth keeping Santana unless you think an excess of catchers will be kept.

Headley.  He will regress, but with the fences moving in at Petco, he will probably put up very close to the same numbers.  Add to that a chance that he gets traded, and you have a great keeper.

If you desperately want to keep a catcher, you should be able to trade Headley and Santana for a $5 Molina or maybe even a $15 Posey.

Great point.  Our league does not allow offseason trading, however.  I am the commissioner, and tried to get it passed, but since Yahoo is down in the offseason, our league members are concerned with regulating trades in the offseason.  So they voted against it.  Posey is actually about $15, but his owner is not trading him.

I have to think that in our league, with keeper inflation, Headley will command about $25-28 in the auction.  I'm not sure how much people are buying into him.  Santana could go from anywhere between $20-30, in my estimation, as one of the best catcher options.  Either way, though, I save money on keeping Headley and trying to bid for Santana.  I think I'm going with you guys' advice, but keep it coming :)

I know Headley was supposed to be a pretty good prospect coming up but it's taken him a while in the bigs.  Any reason for that?  Is there reason to think he will build off of 2012?

Headley. Think we will have another great season, top5 3B by season's end. Had a great year in SD and if he does get traded he will be even better. Keep your IF studs.

The Head
I think Santana is overrated. He's a big tease. 3B is pretty rough after the big three (Longoria, Wright, Beltre), and I think C has plenty of decent options.
Roll the dice on Headley.

another Headley vote. I believe Catcher is deeper than expected this year, whereas, at 3b, there is a bigger drop-off after the first 2 tiers in talent for each position.
Good luck

Pound for pound, I like Santana more.    But catchers are always a risky keep.     (Heck, if this wasn't an OBP league, I'd not even seriousy consider Santana here.)
granted, I doubt we see the same production from headily.
