Anyone have any info on this guy? He's getting the start tonight in place of Crawford.

Interesting - I was actually pretty impressed by his play in college.  I didn't think he'd be a star in the NBA, but definitely thought he could be a great role player or bench depth (or scoring spark).  I was a bit surprised he wasn't able to latch on anywhere.  He reminded me of a poor man's Chauncey Billups with his role at Butler.  He was the unquestioned leader of the team who was able to take games over in the 4th quarter hitting a bunch of clutch shots late in games.

If he can get decent burn with the Wizards, he could be a sneaky source of 3's/Steals/Points with modest contributions assists and rebounds.  He's a streaky shooter so beware his FG% could be detrimental at times, but he has the ability to make 3's in bunches...

It would be interesting to hear from someone who saw the game.  From the box score, it appears that Temple and Crawford finished the game.  It looks like Mack had a couple of turnovers midway through the 4th quarter and was taken out.

Curious as to how he played and whether those turnovers were his fault.

Shelvin Mack left Wednesday's game in the fourth quarter with an apparent leg injury.

It didn't look serious, but he called for the trainer while the Cleveland was bringing the ball up the court. He was playing well, but now newly-signed Garrett Temple will get his shot. Mack could have been an intriguing pickup in deeper leagues and we'll update his status once the information is available.

Thank you!  Also, I liked your summary above.  I also followed him in college.  Your assessment is spot on!

I saw him call for the trainer.  It didn't look serious.  Some think it might've been leg cramps.
Hopefully he'll be ok in time for the next game, seeing as how i just picked him up today.

I watched this game, mostly to see Nene and if he favored his foot.

Mack definitely didn't lack any confidence, and truly looked like he felt that he belonged on the court.  I'm hoping it's leg cramps, because he is a very intriguing player that might be worth keeping an eye on.  I brushed him off when I heard his name a few times while focusing on Nene, but he shined as a competent primary ball handler for a crappy team.  He worked hard to feed Nene, and Okafor inside and his shot looked smooth.  Sorry, I don't have real thorough details, because he really wasn't on my radar.

I could see him having a big role on the team just because Wittman is an Maloof. Some guy they literally just signed who has no real chance at a long term role with the team is being thrust into starting and logging major minutes.

Query for WAS followers, Is starting Mack over Crawford the right thing to do? Because whatever the answer is I would imagine Wittman doing the opposite.

Anybody else wondering if this guy has any chance of affecting Beal's value going forward?

With Wall coming back I can still see Mack getting playing time in a three guard rotation. From tonight's game and previous stats if appears he's a great rebounding guard.

I see 4 guys:  Beal, Mack, Crawford, Wall.  Sorry but I don't see Beal or Crawford getting kicked out of rotation for Mack.

Mack still profiles as the backup PG at this point though, although that likely would result in only like 12-16 minutes. That would leave Beal and Crawford to split the SG minutes which I think is a fine plan. That way you don't throw Beal into the fire and if one of them gets hot just ride them.

And the obvious caveat is that Wall returns which I still think is dubious.

I dont think Mack will be very effective but as long as hes in there Crawfords assist numbers will go down which is a shame. However Mack could be a speculative add if your in need of some cheap assists.

isnt Crawford really a shooting guard...not point?

pretty sure they want to keep crawford off of the ball

he was doing well when he had the ball in his hands for that time period, averaging about 6 assists a game during that stretch. That said he is more suited for the shooting guard role and i think thats where he will stay

2 treys, 6 pts, 6 rebs, 7 asts, 1 stl in 28 mins is not too shabby for a first game as a starter.

his leg cramped up in the last 4 mins of the game tho, so he couldn't play.

Sure, John Wall says he's coming back in January, but if anything it'll most likely be near the end of January.
And there's plenty of games for Shelvin Mack to be played in until then.
