Let's not get overly excited about walks, to me they are only valuable if they eventually lead to a higher batting average or stolen bases.  Or for those of you in leagues where runs count.  You're not going to get stolen bases from Ike Davis, so he's still riding my bench until he can show an ability to consistently keep that batting average up.   Walks can often just be a sign of being in a really poor lineup - for example, if Beltre starts walking more in Nelson Cruz's absence.

In what leagues do RUNS not count?? Seems a pretty standard fantasy category.  And the walks also help with OPS, which is a popular fantasy category.

Getting on base is a good thing.

Some of us do play in OBP leagues you know.

Ike has provided almost a riduculous 500+ obp post all star break, thanks mainly to those walks.

Not much HRs, but near 500 SLG as well.

The counting stats are of course very bad.

The walks also mean that, unlike before his demotion, he's not swinging at any old garbage pitch.  Which means pitchers are going to have to start giving him stuff actually worth hitting, or keep issuing him free passes.  Either way it's good for Ike.

Last time I checked he's still a 1B. The AVG en OBP all look nice but 1 HR and 7 RBI since the ASB is very little other production from a 1B.

yeah but it's not terrible for a 14 team Infield Utility spot...therefore he's relevant to me.

His approach seems a lot better.

Upper deck bomb tonight.  Positively crushed down the RF line.
