This is my first year of playing fantasy hockey and I need some help. I'm starting a league and I'm not sure what kind of league to put together for 10-12 teams. Roto? Head to Head? Points? Also, how many starting positions are good? Maybe 2 forwards, 2 defensemen, 1 goalie? What position is most valuable? Any good draft strategies? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm very excited about playing this year

Maybe if this your first year you should play a few different formats to see what you like instead of running a league

Roto is the most fair, but really I think it is preferential (I play head to head against my friends). Starting off with the standard is really the way to go and see what to change from there. Try seeing a Yahoo mock draft and see all the positions and roster size.

I would say the most valuable position is a goalie because there are only a few elite goalies. In this condensed season though, back ups will play a bigger role than usual.

Draft strategies would be:
-picking linemates
-get guys with lots of PP time. You can reference powerplay points and get those guys
-know that it is hard to play a full season and nagging injuries will harm anybody's team
-defense is thin, and usually center is deep. However, there are elite centers which you just can't ignore drafting
