I'm new to fantasy leagues but i've really gotten into this basketball league i'm in but I was curious who was the best waiver wire pickup of fantasy basketball in the past 20 or 30 years. This year Larry Sanders or maybe Tristan Thompson seem to be pretty good choices. I know Sanders was probably drafted in alot of deeper leagues but he might qualify for a waiver type of pickup.

There are a bunch that went undrafted that cracked first round for the season. Steph Curry and Kevin Martin and I think Granger.

I know Darren Collison of all players (as a rookie) in '09-'10 likely won a lot of leagues for people a few years back as well as Goran Dragic last season. These were a few of the great 2nd half of the of the season free agent adds in recent memory.

I have to say that picking up Jeremy Lin at the start of Linsanity was the funnest experience I've ever had with FA pickups, although it might not be anywhere near considered the "best" in terms of stats.

He was a terrible fit to my team (as my team was very injured and he still lost me TOs), but it was such a joy to watch him play and see the stats pile up at a ridiculous pace!

I'm pretty sure getting KD off waivers in a 1 team league wins by a country mile...sure don't know why that manager decided to drop him but I was lucky enough to pick him up with my #1 waiver.

If my memory serves me correctly, I think Big Al 06-07 was a good one too.

I can see why. His first game was so bad. 16/6/7 on 5/16 shooting?

That was a fun year. Ended up with both Collison and Andray Blatche from the waivers.

Steph Curry and Collison were 2 of mine.
CP3 was breaking his neck to get back from injury.  LOL

I missed on Dorrell Wright but that was a big one too.

Yao Ming, 2002-3 rookie season. Went undrafted, played poorly in first ~5 games. People were talking like he might be the next Shawn Bradley. Until Nov 17, in a game against Shaq and the Lakers, where he pulled out the Dream Shake. I remember where I was standing, running to the PC, and picking him up.
My team:
G: Lowry, Jrue, Kobe, George Hill, Shved, Shumpert
F: Pau, Matthews, Gee, Wilson Chandler, Odom, Alan Anderson
C: Tyson Chandler, Hawes, Favors

I remember back in 2004 picking up Brevin Knight when he exploded for 15 assists on his 5th game that season with CHA and he carried me to the Championship with averages of 9 assists per game that year (2nd overall behind Nash only) and 2 steals per game (5th overall that year). Also 10 ppg with decent field goal for a guard .422 and .850 FT...
