Mat Latos 2013 Outlook

Honestly if you take out his slow start in April of 28.67 innings he had an ERA of 5.97, 1.57 WHIP, 5.65 K/9, and a .307 BAA his stats look much better.
I'm seeing Latos go in the 10th round and that's seemingly like a very fair value.

latos always starts slow - those numbers are right around his career averages for april. if he ever figures out how to get geared up earlier he could put up a cy young caliber season.
in that regard, he (or his pitching coach) might have picked up on something that will help him next april and beyond - he threw his changeup 11% of the time in april and then pretty much ditched it for the rest of the year.

i actually think he's under-rated in fantasy - dude is still learning how to pitch and refining his game, we haven't seen his best year yet, but the ones we have seen are pretty good

I don't think there is really not all that much data to draw that conclusion. He was bad last year in April and in 2010 when he was 22. In 2011 his April wasn't good, but it wasn't nearly as disastrous as last year.

DDallas has informed us via Twitter that Mat will be ready and that we should not worry about her man being ready for the season.
That's two D's and one T. 9th round looking like a bargain as I see it.

I'll draft this maniac in the 7th round and wreck my entire draft if have to, owning Latos again and following his donkey chronicles thread will be worth it.
Also, if he gets through May without being arrested, catching hepatitis from a tattoo parlor, or with an era under 6, he could be a real nice mid-rotation sp

As the original purveyor of the Costanza Theory, I must say I truly hope we're all back on board this year. Until MaT with one T fully breaks the Costanza curse, we'll all enjoy the roller coaster.
In my main league, I bid Mat farewell in an offseason deal. But fret not, I will re-acquire somehow, some way post-draft. He should be pretty cheap by mid April.

That couldn't be any further from the truth. Everyone was expecting Latos to get hammered in the Great American Bandbox.
Fortunately, he posted virtually the exact same numbers after moving from Petco to Cincy

Every player in baseball seems to have a quaint Spring training puff piece written about them, i.e. "He's in the best shape of his life. He renewed his love of the game by playing Winter ball, etc."
I'd imagine the puff pieces about Latos are different. "DDallas spent the offseason working as an escort for fun. Mat blew off some steam working as her "manager". It was the perfect way for the couple to renew the vigor in their relationship and gave Mat time to take his mind of the rigors of the 162 game season."
That's how I imagine the Latoses spending their offseason.

already the 2013 Latos thread is a thing of awesomeness. It's like reality tv but way better.
