Agreed. Peralta looked good today. Obviously it was a great night for pitchers and it was against the Cubs, so you can't draw a ton from it, but he had his 95+ fastball working and a ton of downward movement on his sinker. Very few Cubs got good wood on the ball against him. I think this guy is going to be a good big league pitcher.

I saw some brief parts of the game yesterday, and man does he have nasty stuff. I'm not that great at making a .gif, but there is a K of Davis Dejesus that was just flat out nasty. He threw a 96 mph 2 seam fastball that went from the middle of the plate to the RH batter's box. I don't remember seeing movement like that, since when the artist formerly known as Fausto Carmona first broke out. If he could just control just a tad better, he'd be flat out nasty. But he'll most likely be up and down this year it looks like, but the stuff is seriously legit. I didn't see the K on the highlights link, but if you have mlb.tv, look it up, was a ridiculous pitch.

That was nasty, right at the 60 minute mark if anyone else watches it on mlb.tv

WP has a 2 start week coming up. Is this a guy who simply shouldn't be sitting on the waiver wire at this point?

Eh, depends who else is available. He's very wild. I personally wouldn't start him vs. SFG, but may give him a go against the Cubs again.

Selective lineup like the Giants could be a problem for him. I would roll him against the Cubs though if given the chance.

I dunno, I'm usually nervous starting a pitcher for the 2nd time against a lineup. Start him if you want, but I think it's a little more risky this time around.

looked brilliant in the first. sat at 95/96 the whole inning. nice downward sink on the Castro heater at 95 for the k, and nice change? to rizzo for a groundout. needs to keep pitching like this!

little hiccup in the 3rd, hopefully he bounces back. had Castro 0-2 but he got decent wood on a breaking pitch, also had 2 strikes on rizzo I believe then left a breaking ball over the plate, jack. his fastball was unhittable not sure why he threw more breaking balls that inning oh well

Potential closer in 2014, perhaps? Or does he walk too many people?
