aaaaaand....David Wilson ADP skyrockets. But don't forget about Andre Brown possibly still getting all the goal line looks. Hard to pass up wilson's talent, but he'll come expensive now, excited to see this kid in a starting role.
Great moves by the G-Men. They shed 14 million in cap space by cutting Bradshaw (expendable due to injuries and Brown/Wilson), Boley (dude was benched last year), and Canty (good but not worth price tag).
They are roughly 6 million under the cap now. Wilson replaces Bradshaw. Jaquain Williams replaces Boley. Hate losing Canty but he's been hurt more often than not so in reality, not a huge loss and he wasn't worth the money due to him this year.
You can pretty much write off Philips/Tynes/Umenyiora. They are as good as gone.
There is no way Diehl returns at his projected cap number. I think they are working on extending Beatty before they release him though. I honestly think Webster gets a 2-3 year extension to minimize his cap number this year.
If I understand the cap correctly, Cruz/Brown/Brown are restricted free agents and their tenders are already factored into the cap. Pretty sure they have roughly 5-6 million available at the moment, pending restructures/releases.
Bennett said he'd take less to stay here ... so we'll see. This is a good draft class for TE and there are some solid free agents too [Cook, Finley, Keller, etc.] Plus Reese has the "JPP of TEs" locked up so who knows.
If Diehl's cut, that's ~10 million in cap : enough to lock up Cruz long-term and they are already looking to extend Nicks.
I want Kiwi moved back to DE where he belongs and this draft also happens to be deep at DE so I wouldn't be shocked if we go with another in the first.
Ogletree, Georgia LB, and Warmack [G] from Alabama are at the top of my draft wish list. Ogletree could fill in at MLB or SAM [if Kiwanuka shifts to end] and is a great pass rusher for a LB. We're lucky this draft is actually very deep at OL/DL/TE so pretty confident Reese will pull a few gems in the later rounds. Warmack is just a beast at G, instant upgrade to the OL.
Really excited to see a healthy Jaquain Williams this year, very underrated injury that most casual fans didn't even pay attention to, but he was a huge loss. I'd be very happy with a LB corp that includes Williams/Ogletree ... great speed at the LB position.
Nicks/Cruz extensions are in the works, Bennett will be allowed to test free agency.
The Giants basically assign a value to a player and tell them take it/leave it. It happended with Bradshaw a few years ago ... He came back after shopping the Giants offer.
I expect Bennett to leave, but it's a good draft class and their are some quality FAs available so could keep his demands in check. The Giants/Reese are very high on Adrien Robinson, another reason I doubt they overpay Bennett. Nicks/Cruz are far more important players to retain longterm.
Diehl base salary of 4.5 is a must to be restructured or released IMO.
I'm surprised he hasn't been already, to be honest. I guess the Giants are trying to restructure since they've already waited this long. Same goes for Corey Webster, who was terrible last year.
Giants are in a tricky spot though....they're going to have to pay both Cruz and Nicks at some point (Cruz is more pressing at the moment with his RFA status), not to mention JPP. Most of the core guys are getting older and pricier as well....Tuck, IMO, hasn't been the same player since Flozell Adams tripped him a few years ago.
Aside from Diehl/Webster....my guess is that they let Bennett walk and either do another 1 year deal with a TE or just find someone internally (they're high on Adrien Robinson, who will be entering his second season). They'll probably let Tynes walk as well for minimal savings on a kicker.
Do you really care who is on my team? I have Mike Trout and Arian Foster in keeper leagues in their respective sports.
