Ahh Marcus Giles, I completely forgot about that dude. On the bright side it doesnt look like he has had Tommy John yet! There is still time for him to come back, get injured, and need that.

I wouldn't say his ship is sailed. Prior is only 32 and broke into the league already as an elite talent at 21 in similar fashion to guys like Strasburg, Sale, and Kershaw.
Last year in AAA he did have control problems which is some what expected after after a 6 year struggle to stay healthy. But he still posted a 13.68 K/9 in AAA last year over 25 innings. So there is still some upside in that arm if he can stay healthy and gain his control back. He says he feels healthy this year and can get guys out again.
Too bad he's with The Yankees but I'd love for him to have a Ben Sheets like come back and prove to more than a serviceable pitcher. This guy was one of the most dominate pitchers I have seen when he was last 100% healthy (years ago).

Wasn't he on the Yanks two years ago? I thought he was still a free agent right now

He probably is a free agent I just saw his Yahoo! profile. They have him on The Yankees. He got released so he can go anywhere. A team would be dumb to at least not try him out.

Reds signed RHP Mark Prior to a minor league contract.
The Cincinnati Enquirer's John Fay says the Reds haven't decided whether he'll report to major or minor league camp. Prior, who posted a 3.96 ERA and 38/23 K/BB ratio over 25 innings for Triple-A Pawtucket with the Red Sox last year, will be reunited with former manager Dusty Baker in Cincy. "He called me and asked for a chance," Baker said. "I talked to Walt (Jocketty). (Prior) says he feels good. He feels like he has some unfinished business."

missed this from long ago. and i'm fully aware of who mark prior is.
you're right, the ship hasn't sailed. it's sunk.
yeah, he signed today....and i hope i'm wrong, i'm actually rooting for him. however, when the sox released him in august, it took teams until today to give him a shot.
you can throw all the stats out there you want, but the fact of the matter is he wasn't very good last year. i'll take that back. he was good early in the year. his control was hideous down the stretch. mechanically, he was nothing like he was in his prime. nowhere near as free as he once was.
this is a guy that has thrown a total of 49 innings since 2006.
like i said, i hope i'm wrong....i just won't be.

that I must bow so low?
Only a cat of a different coat,
that's all the truth I know.
In a coat of gold or a coat of red,
a lion still has claws,
And mine are long and sharp, my lord,
as long and sharp as yours.
And so he spoke, and so he spoke,
that lord of Castamere,
But now the rains weep o'er his hall,
with no one there to hear.
Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall,
and not a soul to hear.
