This guy can steal a lot of bags. He can. But will he?

Will he hold onto the starting gig? Im not sure he really has the hit tool to do it ... need to to some homework on this...

Brew Crew resigned Alex Gonzo to backup ... so if Jean gets off to a cold start, how long will they keep rolling him out there day to day?

But you can get him very late at a terrible position depth-wise.

Anyone got any better insight on him? I'm pretty intrigued

Limited major league track record shows nothing more than 1 dimensional steals specialist, but I believe he had a decent September if you disect it.

Minor league #s show a pretty consistent .300+ hitter with lots of bags and a little budding power.

I think most people are looking at him as a low risk/high reward end of draft flier.

That seems like a bit of a stretch considering it took him 3 1/2 seasons in the minors to hit 16 home runs. He's a later round sleeper that could put up a decent .280 average and some steals but I'll have to pass.

I think his value really depends where he is hitting in that lineup. If he is hitting 7 or 8 he won't get many runs, and he also might not steal many bases because he will be bunted over when the pitcher comes up, but if he is at the top of the lineup, then I think I like him more then Simmons from ATL because of the steals he will get. It all really depends on where he is hitting.

He's really one of my favorite sleepers this year.  He probably will bat 7th or 8th, but he's not really in any danger of losing his starting job.  He should steal 30+ and hit .270+, and while I think he has some power upside long term, I think his ceiling is around 12 HRs for this year.

This. Batting position is everything for speed guys. I'm guessing the top of their lineup will be occupied with Aoki and Gomez ahead of Braun and Ramirez, so that means Segura will probably be hitting 7th or 8th. If that is true, then I would have to pass. The bottom of the lineup in an NL lineup is very difficult to steal from.

Last I heard, Alex Gonzalez is going to be filling in at 1B until Corey Hart is healthy enough to play.  This is good news for Segura on the job security front.

Very suprised to see such little talk about this guy.  I had my auction this past weekend and couldn't be happier about waiting on Segura at $5 as opposed to getting in on the Tulo/Reyes/Castro spending frenzy .  Looking at the injury - plagued top tier of the position in recent years, picking a lottery ticket like this kid (ala Escobar last year) could be the difference in making a title run.

I think people are looking too much into his spot in the lineup coming opening day.  If he manages to thrive there while one or move of Gomez, Weeks or Aoki struggle/get hurt, Segura could be hitting in the sexy part of that Brew Crew lineup sooner rather than later.

I got my eye on him as a cheap MI speedster. Right now he is limited unless he can take hold of the 1-2 spots of the lineup. It's tough to steal batting 8th when the pitcher is usually in a spot to bunt you over. SS Segura-RF Aoki-LF Braun-3B Ramirez-2B Weeks- C Lucroy- CF Gomez- 1B Gonzalez would get me a bit more excited.

Plus, it'll probably get him out of the 8th spot in the lineup. Gonzalez has to hit 8th.

Four hits to start the season to continue his torrid spring training, and the steals with definitely come.  I've watched his first two games and think the Altuve comparisons are definitely appropriate.

I snagged him yesterday. Grey from Razzball seems to think he's comparable to Alcidies with a dirt cheap price tag FWIW. His spot in the order blows but hopefully he can move out of that 8 hole eventually. He seems to come well regarded from his manager and scouts so hopefully he can bring some heat this year.

He just has to get out of the 8th spot and then his value can take off.
