If you've followed fantasy baseball for a few year, you know that Turner was once thought to be a potential front line starter. The shine has worn off because every time he came up with the Tigers, the kid was blown up.
While he'll probably never be a front line starter, he is only 21 and because of the trade last year, pitches half his games in a huge park.

7 starts with MIA last year: 42.2 innings / 3.38 era / .98 WHIP / 9 walks (huge improvement for him) / only 29 K's

He's currently only 2% owned in yahoo which seems low to me. Seems like he could be a great sleeper to draft with the final pick.

What do you guys think?

Really like him in NL only leagues. Love him in those, in fact.

In mixed, my biggest concern is whether the Fish can spot him enough runs to get him many Ws - especially since he's not a high-strikeout guy, so his contribution in that category is already limited, too. That puts a lot of pressure on his ratios to contribute.

He could have a good start against the Mets but his upside is limited this season. I think he will be a late bloomer

What is his stuff like? He doesn't seem to be a big k pitcher but that could be misleading.

Because apparently if you don't have immediate success in the majors, you are a bust prospect forever. Apparently.

I care about him. I have him in a dynasty and I think the biggest reason people are sour on him is he doesn't K a lot of guys and he wasn't good in Detroit which led people to think the Tigers dealt him as damaged goods. However, he's still REALLY young and all along people compare prospects to the competition level. A lot of guys his age are in A or AA. If he were putting up monster numbers in AA, he'd be a much more followed guy. There's still a great chance that he is at least a serviceable MLB starter and there's potential for more. Circumstances of him being over his head initially have caused the lack of hype IMO.

Did the Tigers minor league coaches put him through the same regimen as Porcello? Work on other pitches and forget about your best pitch? Seems like he added back the slider into his repertoire and is getting more success, although I can't quite find his Pitch f/x in the minors.

His FB velocity is ticking up this season. Interesting development to follow. When he was a top prospect, he was 93-95. When he lost some of his luster last year, he was down to 89-91. I've checked out a couple innings of his tonight, and I've seen a lot of 93-94.

Totally anecdotal since I haven't checked numbers on his pitches, but it seems like every fastball is sitting between 91 and 94. Not a perfect outing tonight, but 7 IP with 6 K's and 3 ER against a solid Brewers lineup (albeit without Braun) is a pretty good build off of two excellent starts the last couple of times out. Not a lot of wins to be had, but no reason to believe he shouldn't be a fairly solid guy for ratios and potentially not as big a K black hole as he was when he was throwing softer.

A 22 year old pitcher with a 2.16 ERA and he doesn't seem to get any attention...Granted it's a small sample size but if this guy pitched for anyone besides the Marlins he'd be getting more consideration...

Maybe because his upside isn't as high as other prospects, but I have been enjoying what he has done so far. I like him better ROS then someone like Cole.
