Why can't Vereen be what Sproles is to Bress? I'm not trying to outsmart anyone, maybe there's an answer why he won't. I just haven't kept close tabs.

Not to derail the thread and I do like your team, but that is way too many Patriots: Brady, Gronk, Sudfield, Thompkins, Veeren, Dobson. I hate owning Patriots because of BIll. Brady is the exception as you know he is starting and producing, but week to week you cant count on consistency and god forbid you get any injury news if one of your guys is dinged up.

Someone get this guy a Blount

I'm a Vereen owner but don't know why you don't expect Ridley to keep his job, unless b/c of injury.

Either way I'm happy to have gotten Vereen... one of my few victories in my draft, got him on pick 4 of 7th round (12 team).

Yeah barring injury I think Ridley is about as safe a bet to hang onto the job as anyone, but I'm still thrilled to own Shane.

Fumbles is the reason. Still don't think Vereen is the next guy up though. Bolden did very well last year and earned more carries as the season went on, until the injury put him back to square one.

That could be true... but it still wouldn't be bad news for Vereen owners if Ridley went down. Even if Bolden took over running downs I think Shane would see an increase in touches.

Either way, I don't think people are drafting Vereen as a handcuff. Drafting him as a Sproles. Fingers crossed ;)

Bolden and Blount stand to benefit most if Ridley goes down.

Vereen may pick up a few more carries, but he wouldn't be entrusted with the early down work with those guys in tow.

Are Bolden and Blount even for sure things to make the final roster?

Radio shows and various reports around New England are saying that its likely only one of them makes the roster. If these are true then my money is on Bolden.

I think they're both locks. Blount has been impressive. He would get snatched up quick if they released him.

Yeah I agree. Vereen has standalone value but isn't all of a sudden going to be Adrian Peterson if Ridley goes down.

Sorry if this is redundant, but this is what I think we are all hoping for.

SI's Peter King calls Shane Vereen a "multi-threat weapon" who will likely take on some of Aaron Hernandez's old role.

Advice: The Boston Herald made a similar observation earlier in camp. With the talent to line up all over the field, including in the slot and even outside receiver, Vereen is going to sponge up touches after totaling just 85 through his first two NFL seasons. He's a high-end flex option with some RB2 appeal.

He isn't really involved in the offense and he fumbled in one of his few chances.

12-team PPR:
Matt Ryan
Giovani Bernard/Rashad Jennings/Ahmad Bradshaw/Joique Bell/Branden Oliver/Jeremy Hill
Dez Bryant/Pierre Garcon/Roddy White/Andre Johnson/Allen Robinson
Larry Donnell/Zach Ertz

I guess if we're judging players on less than a half of preseason play that Ridley guy must suck, too (8 carries for 8 yards).

Vereen has been very good this preseason.
