2011 = top 10 RB, stud per game production. look out world.
2012 = dumpster fire.

SD signed Woodhead, more or less guaranteed to steal the 3rd down receptions and limit the swagbeastness of this potential cowhorse workbell.
I see him currently going around the 4/5th round ... "injury prone" ... terrible OL ...

His per game production put him around 25th overall for RBs last year.  

So ... avoiding like the plague or potential draft day steal? I don't see his ADP shooting up anymore than the 3rd round at best by summer.

Ugh, I won't be able to pass up his upside if it only costs a 3rd. I don't know what Norv was doing with him last year. He almost never ran him to the outside - just predictable up the gut runs on 1st and 2nd down.

Hopefully, the new staff is more creative than Norv. It would hard to be worse. The bigger question is if the o-line will be worth a crap. The line looked bad last year and I remember reading that they lost at least one guy to free agency already. They really need to improve this aspect.

I blame a lot of his struggles on Norv and the mind games he played once he came back from the collarbone ... one fumble and all of the sudden he goes from "workhorse" to watching Jackie Battle/Ronnie Brown, but he didn't look like the same player as 2011 either. Every time I watched him he went down on first contact or slipped/tripped up himself. Doesn't help that Gates/Rivers are a shell of their former selves.

This is one of the things that scare me about him for next year.  He looked alot like a guy who was playing NOT to get hurt again.  Is it possible coaching staff saw this in practice/game tape/etc?

Pretty simple for me. I won't even consider him as my RB2, but if I can grab him as my RB3 I would think about it. He's one of those guys I hope goes before I have to make a serious decision on him.

He looked like he was playing to not get hurt or fumble, this is why i blame Norv and his Jackie Battle mind games. Mathews would have a big run then disappear for a series or 2 even after they gave up starting Battle.

Could be wrong but the guy is young and was coming off a great year then just looked lost last year. Even with a good preseason I cant imagine this guy going any earlier than the 3rd in most leagues.

Some guy wants me to trade Mathews to him in one of my dynasty leagues, at a discount of course. No offer yet, but I can't imagine the offer will be great. I gotta figure out a way to move him though. Anytime I have to think about a player THIS MUCH in terms of him being a bust can't be a good thing.

Plus, the guy has just proven to be injury prone.....in h.s., college and in the pros. He just cannot stay healthy and does not play effectively through any injury. Players don't usually become "not" injury prone after this kind of history. I don't even know if I would use a 5th on him when there will be other options available who don't have his baggage. I mean, i would almost rather take a backup QB or TE. Sick of Mathews.

6 keepers in a dynasty league next year we keep 10 and the guy that has him has 6 much better options

I finished in 3rd for the season so ill have the 8th and 13th picks next draft

Do i spend either pick (a 7th or 8th rounder) on him? he probably wouldnt make it back to me in the 9th

RB sucks so much that this guy still finished as an RB2/flex worthy play in deep leagues.

I dont think 2013 could possibly get any worse than last year. Broken clavicle, fumble, Jackie Battle, Ronnie Brown, broken clavicle.

I'm gonna have to agree here. Sometimes I'm willing to take the talent with the risk, but in this situation I don't have enough faith in Mathews. Law-Firm doesn't have anything to get excited about, but he's much safer and will get all the go ahead rush TD's in his effective offense. Woodhead could easily take the 3rd down work and any receptions upside he once had. Law-Firm is boring but should hold down the fort at my RB2 spot.
