power seems legit
human windmill
good average last year and certainly this year
hitting in the meat of that Atlanta lineup won't hurt...

He will be a platoon player when Freeman gets back could be a nice matchup play but more or less waiver fodder

Drafted him, however mine is a deep league (see below). Given he will eventually be in a platoon w/Fernandez (at 3rd) he is likely not worth rostering in a 10 team or weekly league. Currently his value lies in a daily league till Freeman returns. I'm starting him as of now. Then he becomes more of a questionable play. Won't be dropping him as he has been quite productive, yet long term outlook isn't great. For short term, he's a great add as a 1b/3b/DH/Util/CI if your league utilizes those extra slots. He does have some power.

He hits LDs at around 23%, and has an average HR/FB ratio.

Can hit .290 with 20 HR in a good year I think.

However, where will he get playing time. Most promising is if Juan Francisco slumps.

But, this is a situation where you are thankful for whatever production you can get.

I don't know - this guy's batting and OBP'ing over 400 the last two weeks and over 500 apiece the last week. Looks like he'll be fairly entrenched in the middle of an amazing lineup on a daily basis for at least the foreseeable future.

I think if you have a spot you ride him right now (for me, Boggs obliged).

When Freddie comes back it will def eat into his at-bats, IMO. The only reason he has been getting regular at bats was because Freddie was on the DL.

He is hitting liners at a 30% clip the last time I looked so he's not gonna keep that up. But he does hit them around 23% regularly in his career. He will go back to a platoon with Francisco when Freeman comes back.

I lost both Lawrie and Headley to the DL but Johnson's been a more than capable fill-in. In fact he is better than both Lawrie and Headley right now and I have no reason to start either one over him.

Freeman is scheduled to begin rehab games in AAA tomorrow, per MLB website. Any idea how long out he is?

From what I've read he will probably be back Monday.

They're not Chipper but the Johnson/Francisco combo at third is definitely not a weakness for the Braves. Either one would be playing everyday for a lot of clubs. That said, it will hurt both their value when Freeman comes back. I expect a pretty much even time share unless one slumps

What happens if one does not slump.... (i.e. namesake of this thread title)... how do you platoon a guy tearing the cover off the ball?

Proceed to Matt Adams for a different platoon.
All I can say is that he works for me in my league setup-He may not for yours.

^ I understand how to manage it within the realm of my fantasy league.. more so a question for ATL on how you just yank him out of the lineup 3-4 days/week when he's raking like this.. guy has never had 500 AB's...

Well how do you yank Francisco out when hes over .300 with power? Even defensively one doesn't have a clear edge over the other. I don't see how Fredi can play it any other way but to evenly platoon when Freeman comes back. Johnson will see all starts vs lefties and enough vs righties to even out the playing time

The Big Johnson delivers again. He's hitting everything. Has the only 2 hits for ATL so far.

He has a beautiful swing. Of course, I watch the Braves and picked this guy up, not sure where it will take me, but as long as Johnson is producing I'm riding, unless something comes long that is better. That may be Rendon, we'll see.

I'd like to add Johnson, but since we do not have unlimited moves, I am afraid of the dreaded platoon once Freeman returns.

10 Team Yahoo League - 20 man Roster - .5 PPR - Start - 1 (QB, TE, WR/TE, DST, K), 2 (RB, WR)

QB - Wilson, Roethlisberger, Palmer; RB - Lacy, Ball, Gore, Ingram, Hillman; WR - Allen, A. Johnson, T. Smith, Hopkins, Gordon; Beckham, D. Jackson, Adams; TE - Reed, Walker; DST - Seattle; K - Catanzaro

Trade:

Gave Reggie Bush, received DeSean Jackson - Week 7
