Rockies recalled 3B/1B Ryan Wheeler from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

He'll replace the injured Todd Helton (forearm) on the active roster. Wheeler batted just .239/.294/.339 in 50 games with the Diamondbacks last season, but has posted some big numbers in the Pacific Coast League. It's unclear whether he'll get enough playing time to be relevant in NL-only leagues

Didn't really get a chance at playing time last year as a Diamondback. Decent numbers in the minors. If he hits and plays, maybe he'll stick and supplant the combo of Nelson/Brignac at third. For now, it doesn't look like Arenado will be called up soon and it's weird that Colvin didn't get a look with Helton going on the DL; they must really hate him. Should be worth a look if he gets playing time, esp as a Rockies hitter.

Im not sure he gets a legit shot. I'd guess Eric Young and Jordan Pacheco are the playing time winners here. That being said, I agree that Wheeler could be interesting if given everyday abs.

LF - CarGo
CF - Eric Young
RF - Fowler
1B - Cuddyer
3B - Nelson/Pacheco

I don't see a clear way to playing time for him. Plus, Arenado will be up soon. If he plays, he can be intriguing, but there isn't a simple path to playing time.
Bring back Ray!
