Anything to see here? Still young (25), the lefty seems to be coming into his own. He isn't blowing anyone away, but he's had back-to-back shutouts against the Phils and Cardinals.

He has definitely put himself into the streamer-eligible category. Is that all he should be at this point?

I was tempted to stream him today as part of a last ditch effort, and am now bummed that I didn't. I'd appreciate some more feedback on this dude, too.

Anyone with info? Two straight starts without allowing a run has me tempted to add, seeing as I have a weak staff.

With Liriano, Karstens, Morton all due back hes going to need to pitch well.  Now there is an opening in the rotation now that Sanchez was DFA'd... JMac is so up and down right when you think he is a solid piece in the rotation, he should be sent down... I have no idea if Locke sticks, but the Pirates do have a lot of potential starters coming back, soon

I'll pass. I looked at his peripherals on fangraphs. Not a great sample size (45.2 IP) but I think I've seen enough to not be interested.

28 K's in 45.2 IP (5.52 K/9) ---> YUCK
.231 BABIP                         ---> BAD TIMES LIKELY AHEAD
3.94 BB/9                           ---> UH OH
60.5 First Strk%                  ----> MEH (MLB AVG IS 60%)
7.9   Swing Strk%               ----> MEH (MLB AVG IS 8%)

This all tells me he's nothing really special:

-Low BABIP likely means he's been for the most part lucky.
-BB/9 tells me he's flirting with disaster.
-K/9 and Swing Strk % tells me his stuff isn't good enough to warrant such a low BABIP
-First Strike % tells me that he's not really anymore capable of getting ahead in the count than the average MLB pitcher.

Add that up, and I'd call it just any standard hot streak. He'll come crashing down hard soon enough.

He's an OK pitcher, at this point good streaming option, certainly today at home against Houston.

I understand if people stream him today but I'll pass. I simply don't trust pitchers with high B/9 and low K/9. It doesn't take much for them to implode.

Just warning everyone who picks him up after his QS vs Houston today

He obviously needs to throw a higher percentage of strikes, but his curveball is pretty damn nasty. If he lowers his walks, there could definitely be something here.

Totally agree! Watching him for the 1st time; I thought he was just the definition of an average lefty but he reminds me a lot of Ted Lilly! His curveball is excellent.

PNC park is an awesome park to pitch in but he has a tough upcoming schedule and I don't think he's worth much in standard mixed leagues. It looks like he's locked down a spot in the rotation though and you could definitely do worse

I think Ted Lilly IS the definition of an average lefty.

Hopefully he isn't another love of yours like Slowey, that didn't work out too well. ;)

Locke had a lot more Ks today than I think we should usually expect, but the ERA and WHIP on the year are great.

not my fault Slowey got injured. He had 2 bad games and the injury doesn't appear to be long-term.

What are we expecting tonight against Detroit? This could be a boom game for Locke. If he fairs well against Detroit too, his ownership is bound to skyrocket. In other words, he will become a sell-high candidate.
