Didn't see a thread on Colby.

Just wanted to know what you think about him.  It sounds like he is nearing a rehab stint if things go well in his next throwing session this weekend.

He was great last year and a top 50 pitcher the last three years.  Do you think he is a good pickup or will the injury hold him back?

I too am curious about Lewis's prospects for fantasy value this season. Who doesn't need pitching help?

The thing that would concern me was control always takes awhile to come back from after TJ and Lewis had pinpoint accuracy. Without that he might get bombed as he has the propensity to give up the long ball.

This was his 2nd TJ surgery, he had the first in HS and a shoulder surgery in '04.
Blurb from the article: Lewis had Tommy John surgery on his pitching arm in high school and right shoulder surgery in 2004.

article here: http://www.huffingto..._n_1697571.html

Didn't realize it was his 2nd TJ, this changes my expectations going forward. Might pass in my dynasty.

With regards to this recent injury, Lewis DID NOT have TJ surgery.  He had surgery to repair a torn flexor tendon.

The two are not the same thing.

flexor issues involve the  elbow, and with his past history with his shoulder, and having had TJ already at a young age, me personally,  I'm passing in my dynasty leagues.

Same here. Sneaky owners picked him up at least a week or two ago already.

I had him on my watch list because of his strong 1H last year but looking at his career numbers, he's really not been great and not sure if he's worth stashing coming off injury.  What should we expect?

he's a decent sp5 in 10-12 teamers. i think that steamer's projections are reasonable-

3.93 era, 1.24 whip, 7.28 k/9, and 2.35 bb/9

nervous about the longballs he'll give up and I'm not convinced his control will be as spectacular as it was pre-surgery.

I think he will blow up a lot of owners' ratios before settling down and rewarding the second set of owners who grab him in August

Colby Lewis (elbow) acknowledged on Monday afternoon that he's unhappy with his fastball velocity.
Lewis was sitting around 85-86 mph in his rehab start Monday at Double-A Frisco and wants to be closer to 89-91 mph by the time he returns to the major leagues. The hope had been that he would be ready to rock during the first week of June, but a more realistic timetable calls for him to be activated near the middle of the month. Lewis is on his way back from major right elbow surgery.
