I know he hasn't done squat in a couple of years, and it's only one good night, but if has another night like this tomorrow he's worth a speculative add for those hurting at CI or 1B in AL-only or deep leagues.

He's getting there in age and coming off a year of injuries, but in years past, he could give you a month's worth of production in a week or less when he gets hot. Just remember to cut bait quickly once he goes cold.

Meh, I feel like he's owned in any league he could be useful in or picked up in those leagues he was dropped during his DL stint. As you said, I doubt he stays healthy for ANY length of time, so I wouldn't look at him as anything more than a plug and play option for some leagues. Matt Joyce is heating up more and would be a better option for owners in 10-team to 14-team leagues. Plus I don't want to own Scott, he's a butthead.

Personally I am in a weekly league where Scott is only eligible at DH. With most leagues I'd say he isn't worth the stash however If you are in a deep league that has daily subs I like the plug and play appeal when he is facing a right handed pitcher.

Yeah, was just throwing it out there for those with a roster spot open and willing to spec add. In the past I remember picking him up and him giving me insane production over a 5 day or span - something like 6 HR 15 RBI close to .500 BA - and this occurred twice I believe. Then he would be as cold as ice, with some 2 day spurts on your bench that would cause you to start him for a week and get nothing.

He's old and injury prone so it might not still be in the cards but if he hammers the ball tonight I'm gonna try to find room for him, then drop him after his first 1 for 8.

Is he worth a pickup right now?

Too bad the all-star break occurred, looks like he could've been in the midst of one of his tears. I actually picked him up then immediately dropped him for someone else and missed out on a couple of homers. I know he's old and seems like a stupid guy off the field but I'm still pretty surprised he's only owned at 1% in Yahoo as he's eligible at 1B, and he was perplexedly at 3% a few days ago befor the 2 HR.

In the OF-DH mix between him, Johnson and Joyce he seems to be the winner as he starts nearly everyday, including against lefties. If you're desperate for 1B or CI can't hurt to pick him up and try him out for a couple of days. I'm gonna see how he does day-by-day and depending on whether he seems to be mashing and how my 23rd man is doing I might pick him up. If I do, though, I'll drop him without hesitation after his first 1 for 8 or if someone with any long term prospects becomes available.

It was Wolverine that copied Luke Scott's look. He's look like that for years. Maybe decades.

Yeah more than Bruce or Hardy, Luke Scott is Mr Streaky. If you have room for him and enough moves, pick him up and ride the wave. When he crashes, feel free to drop him. Repeat as often as needed throughout the season. Any season.

When he's hot, he's hot. Ride him however long you can.

If he stays hot should be a fun week for his owners in Fenway and Yankee Stadium.

It seems like every year I pick up LS for one of his hot streaks. This year he actually seems to be more consistent, with a little less power but a better average. In fact, his career stats against lefties aren't very good, but this year he's batting around .300 against them. It's never easy to tell if there's a reason for something like that or if it's simply a statistical anomaly based on a small sample size. One thing that might be revealing will be his matchup against Lester this week. Of all the pitchers that LS has faced 10 times or more, Lester is the one I could find who won the battle every time (0 for 11).

If LS puts up anything more than a lucky single against Lester in Fenway where he's a lifetime .230-.240 hitter, it might indicate that his plate approach has improved this year.
