he's put together a nice little season so far, is this guy legit? seems he's just been moved up in the order as well, behind Castro and in front of Rizzo so should get plenty of pitches and run/rbi opps. Also Wrigley can be a nice environment at times.

I notice his minor league numbers are actually fairly good (bit of a power deficiency though for a corner IF) and even tosses in a few stolen bases. Is this a season he puts it all together or are we just seeing an anomaly here 100 ABs into his season.

edit: i just noticed he's well on his way to becoming 2B eligible as well which would be pretty huge for his value.

I've been looking at him too..2B eligibility could be huge if he keeps playing there. He's been playing well at 3rd, but so has Ransom, and Stewart could be called up if he ever gets his bat together again and take some time from him. it's good news for his playing time that the Cubs trust him with the 2 bag for sure.

16 BB to 17 K's so far this season. An OPS of almost .900 vs righties. He won't play against lefties (Ransom will play) but that will only keep his avg and OBP up.

I don't know if his power is legit. He did have 20 doubles in 265 AB last season and playing at Wrigley, some of the doubles can turn into HR's. So 10-15 HR's is definitely possible.

He reminds me a lot of the guy who is playing 3B for the Cardinals today, Matt Carpenter.

Baseball and football are very different games. In a way, both of them are easy. Football is easy if you're crazy as hell. Baseball is easy if you've got patience. They'd both be easier for me if I were a little more crazy and a little more patient. ~ Bo Jackson

He's been a savior for me at CI in my NL only league. Read a blurb the other day from Svuem that he considers Valbuena to be an everyday player at this point, as opposed to sitting against lefties which he had been doing for most of the year.

although it's hard to look at his career nums/splits b/c they're so bad and limited ABs, his career BA/OBP/OPS is actually better against lefties. that being said, Ransom seems to have mashed lefties so far this year in limited ABs (22) so I do worry that they'll find ways to get him in there at Valbuena's expense. Personally I don't like owning platoon players, so I hope he does/is an everyday guy.
