Listed as a RP in ESPN. He's in there. NYM on Tues is intriguing with possible 2 starts with MIL depending on how well he pitches I guess.

The Mets have a ton of guys who can't hit lefties.

I always like to look at the last start before a minor leaguer gets called up and in this case it is Gast's worst of the year (4 runs). However like mentioned above the Mets against lefties is a great on-paper matchup. Apparently the Cards don't think the Westbrook injury is serious so it could be 2 and out for Gast.

I'm streaming this week, especially with the 2-starts.

VS Mets (Gee)
VS Brewers (Lohse)

Cards are playing well, could get a win or 2. Gee is awful.

He's only averaging 5.4 innings a start though, even with the great numbers. Which is kind of scary/weird.
38 Innings, 35 Ks, 13 BB, 1.16 ERA, 1.060 WHIP

Seems like one of the better 2-start pitchers this week (Depending on league size, but there's Jeff Francis, maybe Phelps, etc.)

He's for sure up for this two start week right? I might throw him out there

(Sick of losing projected starts later in the week)

Tough to take the plunge o these low innings guys. Too often do you get caught in a low IP, high pitch count outing without a chance at a decision.

"Crafty Lefty" it seems, nothing over 88 so far.
Pretty good looking change up, and a lot of ground balls so far.

Staked to a 3-0 lead as well

Easy first 2 innings

Whatever the Cards are doing in the minors they are doing it right. Lots of good looking young arms. Add Gast to the list. He's working super fast and keeping the Mets off balance.

And yes we all know its the Mets but he's just pitching out here, not doing much thinking, just has a game plan with Yadi and is looking to throw it in as soon as he gets it back. He's dictating the game and doing real well so far.

There's obviously no chance he sticks, right?

I doubt it but if he can do this over the course of three starts then it would be tough decision.

I'm not saying he'll be a star or anything long term, but doesn't it seem like scouts almost never like these soft-tossing types with good control and excellent change-ups? This goes for righties and lefties alike. I often feel this type of pitcher is one of the easiest to gain positive value from via in-season pick-up in fantasy. I'm reminded of years where I've added the Milones and Fiers of the world and done quite well with many of them on the cheap because nobody cares to think soft-tossing can translate to continuous success.

In other words, I'm a big fan of the scout-proclaimed 4th/5th starter types who are only labeled as such due to lack of velo.
