Called up to take Pettite's spot in the rotation. Should get a couple starts...right now its looking like @BAL, @NYM

25 yr old soft tossing lefty control specialist. Last 2+ seasons in the minors - 267 IP, 2.22 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, 252/52 K/BB, which includes his 1.54 ERA, 0.64 WHIP and 26/2 K/BB in 23.1 IP @ AAA this year. 8 Scoreless innings in the majors so far this year.

Worth picking up for at least the two starts?

I definitely like him for both those starts. Not overly imposing lineups, they've never seen him pitch, and the Yankees are winning. Why not?

Update: Yankees are going with CC Sabathia, Phil Hughes and Hiroki Kuroda the next three games. Vidal Nuno will have his turn skipped.

Anyone the Yankees bring up is worth following simply b/c of their offense, bullpen, and willingness to go out later and pick up the necessary pieces to win.  A lefty at Yankee stadium is very desirable.  I would love to see another Jimmy Key, Pettitte - like starter on the staff.
