You would think this guy has to get signed somewhere before the season starts.  With the sad state or RB right now and him being a productive third down back for the last year and a half before the injury.

Any guesses on where he will sign and how his season might turn out?

Willis McGahee reportedly cut due to health issues

Did a 2012 injury factor into Willis McGahee's recent release by the Denver Broncos?

Upon reporting to the Broncos' mandatory minicamp last week, the veteran running back insisted he was fully recovered from a torn medical collateral ligament and compression fracture in his leg. Offensive coordinator Adam Gase corroborated McGahee's take the next day.
There's a difference between healthy enough to practice and healthy enough to remain effective against NFL defenders. Paul Klee of the Colorado Springs Gazette has it "on good authority" that McGahee's questionable health was the "No. 1 reason" for his release. Per Klee, it's also why McGahee's reps were severely limited in the two practices before he was cut.
The Gazette might not be in the habit of scooping The Denver Post, but this is a strong report. If the Broncos don't believe McGahee's knee is right, it's going to leave any potential suitors second-guessing the merits of adding a 32-year-old tailback.

Same thing I was thinking but if they were going to sign him off the injury why not sign Burner Turner, DJ Ware, or Jacobs?

The last two  know the system already, could be an easier transition.

Willis is next to me eating Pringles watching Futurama and every time his phone rings we get excited.

Because McGahee was still an effective back when healthy last year.

Apparently since he's a 10 year vet his contract would not work for the Giants (close to a million dollars), so they likely will wait until after week 1 to sign another RB (to avoid guaranteeing their salary for the entire year).

Surprisingly, I believe Yahoo bumped McGahee's ranking overnight to 114th overall.

My money is on Willis to be the veteran addition to the Giants. Tons of experience, looked good last year, and could mentor Wilson. I'm going to throw a few FAAB dollars on him regardless of whether he gets signed right away. There are a few other teams that could use his services as well.

If the giants don't sign anyone by the time waivers clear I think I may add him in hopes the giants sign him. Not a bad strategy if you have a roster spot at the end of your bench to burn

The Dolphins have shown no interest in free agent RB Willis McGahee.
Lamar Miller and Daniel Thomas were so bad during Week 1 that the media and fans are already in panic mode. The Herald's Armando Salguero says that if Miller has another performance like he turned in against the Browns, the Dolphins "better start shopping for available running backs." Miller didn't play well, but he had absolutely nowhere to run against a potentially dominant Browns front seven. McGahee would not be any kind of upgrade. Sep 11 - 10:48 AM
Source: Miami Herald

I should read better. I thought it said "have shown interest." My bad

I still think he'll be picked up by mid-season.

I can see him ending up as a back up somewhere but at this stage he's held together by tape.

As tempting as he might be to pick up, let's face reality.  This is a veteran RB on the wrong side of surgery coming off of two major surgeries.  If he was still an NFL talent, he'd be on a team somewhere.  He didn't voluntarily retire ala Barry Sanders.  He couldn't find a job.  So that should mean that any other scrub RB already on a team has more talent than McGahee, or at least is viewed by GMs as having more talent.  The likelihood that he will be remotely useful this season is very low in my opinion.
