He is a great route runner, and definitely worth a look in the later rounds.

I am concerned about his durability.  He got hurt in college also.

Notable though that the ACL tear that occurred in college was not the same one that he tore last season in the NFL.  Thus, it's not a recurring injury.  If it happens again, then obviously he's pretty much DND at that point, but there are an absolute TON of players in the NFL right now that have torn an ACL at some point in college / early in their NFL career.  Given the proper recovery time, it is definitely an injury you can come back from.

According to some people. If you have multiple injuries on different parts then you're considered "injury-plagued" but if you have a re-occurring injury it means you're "injury prone"

I try not to let a pair of injuries turn a player into #injuryprone

If a mere 2 injuries in your lifetime makes you #injuryprone, then pretty much the entire population is #injuryprone.

And in that case, it should have no bearing on Fantasy Football rankings, since there are other things that the entire population does, such as breathe air, drink water, etc...

As long as he looks good once he comes back from the injury, that's good enough in my book.  A 3rd major injury is where it starts raising red flags for me.  (i.e. Ryan Mathews...two broken collarbones in a SINGLE season? that's...pretty concerning, taking into account all the other seasons he's been dinged up)

That's kind of my point.   With some athletes there is always something.

Yes, the ACL tears were on two different legs.  Each injury taken individually is not particularly concerning.

But when they happen to the same guy, I start to wonder if this is a pattern.

He will probably have a great preseason.  I am drafting him later than his talent indicates, because I consider him an injury risk.

I would also say this is easily the #1 reason why guys like Ahmad Bradshaw and Danario Alexander get (deservedly) slapped with the #injuryprone tag.  Likewise with Dominek Hixon.

I would disagree with those people.

I consider injury prone when you are out injured all the time.   I tend to use the term less, or not at all, when it is a recurring injury.

I certainly believe there are players that are very frequently injured and you can expect them to sustain injuries at a higher rate than other players.  That said, I don't hand out that designation without a very long string of recorded injuries.  I really couldn't see placing that "tag" on any player in his rookie/sophmore season.  Just not enough data for that player at the NFL-level to predict any injury trend, in my opinion.

I look at the short span of time in another way.  Broyles suffered a season ending ACL injury during his college career.  Then he suffers a season ending ACL injury, on the other leg, during the first two years of his NFL campaign.

I love him as a player.  I allow that I may be premature by labeling Broyles injury-prone.  At the same time I think when evaluating a player for fantasy, durability should be a factor.

There is plenty of time for Broyles to prove that he is durable.  He hasn't done it yet during his short career, and I am guessing his ADP will probably reflect that.

If getting an injury in your first two NFL seasons is enough to tag you as #injuryprone, then like 90% of the NFL is #injuryprone.

Thus why #injuryprone is a myth.  A ghost story.

Posters a lot smarter than me accept the notion that some players are simply prone to injury.

If Broyles hadn't suffered a season ending ACL tear in college, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Broyles is a special player, and definitely worth stocking as one's WR3 or WR4.  I think he comes with a warning label though.  He'll probably have an excellent preseason, and will be drafted long before I am willing to take him.

Jahvid Best has recurring concussion issues, I don't dispute that.  It was clearly evident.

The volume of injuries to Ahmad Bradshaw's feet / ankles is well-documented.

The volume of time Danario Alexander was on the injury report for his knees while with the Rams is well-documented.

The volume of times Ryan Mathews has shown up on the injury report is well-documented.

Greg Childs and Domenik Hixon have both torn the same knee twice.

2 data points are not a trend.

I could see if there were other red flags, but with a guy as shifty as Broyles, who makes cuts at an extremely high speed / force, you'd have to imagine they have a better chance of tearing their ACL during a non-contact play than a guy like LeVeon Bell (minus landing on it after hurdling a defender).  Wes Welker tore his ACL, I don't think that makes him injury-prone.  It seems speedier players tear their ACL's more frequently while making cuts - maybe their cleat digs in a little deeper when they set their foot on that particular play, getting stuck in the turf.

I see ACL tears as being more frequent for this particular position | mold of player (speedy/shifty slot WR's and scat backs), as opposed to Ryan Broyles alone, I think is all I'm saying.

Third time's the charm, as they say.
