I'm surprised no one is talking about Streater this year. He's got a lot going for him.
  • The Raiders threw the ball nearly 630 times last year and should at least match that number again this year.
  • DHB and Myers are gone as are their 185 targets from last year.
  • Denarius Moore has been inconsistent and injury prone plus he’s more of a deep threat which doesn’t mesh with Flynn’s skill set.
  • Streater is the biggest reciever on the roster, he's got sub 4.4 speed, a great vertical, nearly 600 yards as a rookie last year, and he should see 100+ targets this year.
  • Over the last 5 games of 2012 he averaged 70.2 yards per game.
He's going undrafted this year while guys like Hartline, Tate, and Santonio Holmes go ahead of him. He'll probably be on most of my teams this year.

Definite sleeper and great late rd flier in a deep leagues or $1 guy in an auction. Like him better too than all the guys you listed.

Great points. You just reminded me why I picked him up late in the season. He's a bit of a forgotten guy on my keeper roster.

Well as far as the names you got, Hartline had a pretty good season last year which is why he is being drafted this year (even though they added Wallace). Holmes is a vet on a pretty dismal Jets offense. And people are still convinced Tate will have big backup numbers and possibly out-perform Foster should he go down with injury or they split carries. Just remember that DMC is injury prone and that could help WR values. Also, with no Myers or DHB, defenses can focus on Streater. Two less options just makes that offense that much worse IMO.

Going from Palmer to Flynn is likely a big downgrade as well.

I'm fairly certain OP was referring to Golden Tate not Ben (who I think we would all agree deserves to be drafted before RStreater). Also, you are talking as if the loss of DHB and Myers is a negative for Streater - it's actually a positive. As OAK did not draft or sign any WR, Streater's in a prime position to be the every down #2 WR. If anything, defenses will focus on #1 WR DMoore, opening things ups more for Rod.

Definitely high on the WR flyer list.

If DMC has a resurgance I don't see OAK having 600+ pass attempts this year.

Also, can Flynn throw a decent deep ball?

I understand why people are down on Flynn but I think he'll be just fine. He was obviously always going to be stuck behind Rodgers in GB and then he got beat out by RWilson in SEA. Those were his only 2 teams before OAK and it's not like he got beat out by some chumps for the starting QB job. Flynn has looked more than competent in the 2 games he started in GB (2010 at NE & 2011 vs DET). Also in these 2 games he has thrown TD to his WR that went for 66, 58, 36 & 35 yards - so I contend that he can generate big plays in the passing game.

Apparently he looked horrible in minicamp/OTAs recently.

Bad enough that Tyler Wilson might get the starting gig instead, who didn't light the world on fire, but showed well.

His former OC in Green Bay (Philbin) has passed on him in 2 consecutive offseasons now. It's pretty clearly Flynn is nothing more than a good backup.

I'd challenge you to name 32 QBs you'd feel more confident starting than him. My point, is that a 'good backup' is better than a handful of the QBs we watch start every week on certain teams.

What makes you think he's anything more than a replacement level NFL QB?

I think he's pretty much bottom of the barrel as far as starting QB's go. We'll have to wait and see when the season starts.

What is your point? RWilson was lights out in TC and preseason games. He forced PCarroll to name him the week 1 starter and he obviously carried over his great QB play into the regular season. My point is that Flynn is not as good as Rodgers and RWilson but that doesn't mean he's a terrible QB that can't make big plays.
