So, the Eagles WR corps opposite DJax is pretty thin right now obviously.

Maclin - ACL tear, done for the season
Cooper - racial idiot issue, rumor is the Eagles want to cut him (he was never a top-tier receiver anyway before Maclin went down)
Arrelious Benn - lingering knee injury

And then of course, you have all the guys not named Maclin and Cooper, who are now vying for their starting jobs.

One of them being the topic of this thread, 6'7" WR Ifeanyi Momah.

I just want to point out two quick blurbs:

http://articles.phil...jury-nick-foles

That was posted August 3rd.  The takeaway is, it seems right now that Momah and Shepard may be the two frontrunners for that #2 starting WR spot.

However, I find it important to note that, BEFORE the whole racial thing with Cooper, when Desean Jackson missed a short amount of time with a toe injury, it was Cooper and Momah that saw most of the outside reps with the 1st team.

Jeff McLane@Jeff_McLane August 1st
With DeSean Jackson missing, Riley Cooper and Ifeanyi Momah have been taking most of the outside WR reps w/ the first team offense.

So to me, this says that with Cooper out of the picture, Momah may have the edge already when it comes to the #2 spot (obviously he'll have to keep performing at a high level over the next month during preseason).

At the very least, it seemed that Chip Kelly wanted to see what his offense would look like with Momah on the field with the other starters.

Still nothing guaranteed at this point, but a lot of potential could be here.

Oh, and he's being mentored by legendary 6'8" Eagles WR Harold Carmichael, which can't hurt:

Chip Kelly echoed a similar sentiment yesterday. "In the ideal world, no; I think I would love for everybody to be Megatron (Calvin Johnson)," said Kelly. "If we had five (Megatrons) that would be a great situation... If we get to September 9th and (Jackson and 5'8" Damaris Johnson) are our two best guys, we're going to play with what we have."

Reading that he's having trouble gaining any separation against the NE Patriots CB's in practice / scrimmage drills today.

Obviously that would be a necessity for him to overcome in order to take hold of the #2 role.  Will have to follow that aspect of his game throughout preseason to see if it's early-training-camp rust or if he needs more time to learn the finer points of the position.

Gaining separation is usually the #1 knock for tall WR's.

They said our other rookie Russell Shepherd was lining up at No.2 while Cooper was away and today Cooper is back starting opposite DJax.

Damaris Johnson and Jason Avant have their positions locked up on the depth chart so I don't know if Momah will be able to make an impact. Things can change but he seems more like a dream than a reality from what I've heard at Eagles training camp. The other rookie WR is getting more praise.

I mean, if he starts consistently making plays during preseason, then I don't imagine how he wouldn't move up the depth chart some.

Really just need to put him to the test in games and find out if he can do it.  I think at this point, that will be the make or break for him.

While this gives a little bit more hope for Ifeanyi Momah's chances of 2013 fantasy relevance:

Eagles WR Arrelious Benn has been diagnosed with a torn left ACL, and is done for the season.
