Brandon Lafell isn't good; Steve Smith is 34. Tonight Ginn had 5 catches, 149 yards and 2 TDs. He also had a 74 yard punt return for a TD last week. I know he's a career disappointment and return man, but Carolina needs some kind of spark at the WR position. Gettis and Hixon are just...well, Gettis and Hixon. Worth an add in deeper leagues?
16-team keeper league (keepers in italics), long TD bonus, yardage bonuses, 5 rec = 1pt, 10 rec = 5 pts

Why not him?

Already picked him up in my Ret. Yd. league, about an hour ago. B) (You know... just in case.)

Carolina has been in DIRE need of a WR2 for years... maybe he can be the guy.

Forget Ginn, unless you're in a return league. In that case, go for it.

You'll want to fix your eyes on Hixon. When healthy, he can be very effective.

All my mornings start with the alarm clock
Every dream gets stopped before the end
And with each bit I remember, the more the details run together
And I'm left with a message I don't comprehend
I've lost contact with the great beyond again

He's a WR who sucks at catching so unless its a return yardage league I'd pass.

Hixon might get cut, apparently.

Per reports.

Carolina is a graveyard for WR's not named Steve Smith. And Mike Shula is not the brightest OC in the NFL.

I don't see him getting much time at WR in the regular season. If you have a deep bench in a return yardage league, he's worth a stash.

I agree that he's definitely a longshot to really even be a viable WR3, but it's always possible. He's filling my float-spot in my deep league, and will do so until I see the next shiny thing.

Once upon a time, there was a career journeyman NFL wide receiver named Brandon Lloyd. His first seven seasons in the league were fairly uneventful, despite his obvious speed. His best two years were 2004 and 2005 with San Francisco: 43/565/6 and 48/733/5 respectively. All of a sudden in his 8th season, a head coach named Josh McDaniel recognized his talents, brought him to Denver, and in 2010, turned Lloyd into a 77/1448/11 Pro Bowler.

A guy named Ted Ginn Jr. has taken a similar path. His best two years in the league thus far were 2008 and 2009 in Miami: 56/790/2 and 38/454/1(and two kick return TDs) respectively. Now in his 7th season, a new offensive coordinator in Carolina named Mike Shula brings in a similarly fast, yet underachieving WR who is almost the exact same size as Lloyd.

Not saying the same thing will happen, but there is precedent for 28-year-old fast WRs to all of a sudden come into their own in the right system under the right coach.

There are a thousand more precedents to where that doesn't happen... just saying.
