Definitely worth a look. He looked great last time out. Just bad bull pen cost him the W.

Pondering picking him up but I see a lot of questions:

Does Yordano have anything other than a heater?  His minor league K rate this year was pretty good but you can't get away with just throwing heat in MLB.

Will they even throw him for his 2nd start vs WSox if KC is eliminated prior to this scheduled start on Sat

He only threw 86 pitches last start in 5.2 IP.  Is he only a pitch limit per start?

It's a pretty good bet that he'll finish in the 80-to-90 pitch range.

The Mariners are averaging about 2.75 runs per game in Safeco since the beginning of August.  I'd take a pass under most circumstances, but this seems like a good matchup for Yordano.

I went ahead and used my 25th and final pickup on him (we're only allocated 25 pickups for the year).  Looking for a good K rate and hopefully a W

Actually cruised until the 6th.

Got 2 quick outs in the 6th and then allowed a walk followed by a wild pitch and then a single to score a run.  Walked the next batter and was yanked.  Thanks to Will Smith for cleaning up his mess by getting Kendry Morales!

Overall a solid start with 5.2 IP, 2 hits and 2 walks, 1 ER and 6 Ks

Would have been nice to get the win, but I'll definitely take his line from last night. Extremely solid start to the week. Anyone else hanging on for a potential start this weekend against the White Sox?

I'm picking him up tomorrow at 12:00:0000000000001 AM on the dot.  Check the Fangraphs writeup on him. I watched the Seattle game -- granted it was the Ms, but he was filthy, and was showing off a pretty damn impressive curveball to complement the serious heat.  The best thing though was the confidence on the mound and command of all of his pitches that he displayed.  If he develops his change into a plus offering, the sky is the limit, IMO.

Bigger arm than Carlos Martinez, the guy who has been getting most of the "Mini Pedro" comparisons.

Depending on number of keepers and league size, it wouldn't be unrealistic to keep him. He definitely has the potential to be a great starter.

As for KC's rotation, Shields is obviously locked in, and I think Guthrie is still signed and he'll most likely have a spot. After that though, it's anyone's guess as to who they go with. A solid spring from Ventura and he seems likely to make the rotation. They have options like Santana if they resign him, Chen, Duffy, and others, but if Ventura ends the year with a strong start against CWS and then has a good spring, I'd expect him to take a spot. Will likely be a solid late round flier next year in drafts.
Bring back Ray!
