First game back. He can be a very valuable fantasy player going forward. Any projections if he reclaims starters minutes?

At best Frye can give you 12pt 6rebs .5 stl 1 blk 2 threes and he won't hurt u in ft. He does have horrible fg% at around 41-43%. Basically he a downgraded Ryan Anderson except higher blk.

higher blocks does not make him a downgraded Ryan Anderson. If anything it might make him more valuable. I also think he will be a fan favorite and will get some PT over sulking Gortat. Those stats u predicted look pretty good to me.

I was glad to see him back so soon, didn't expect him to play in the preseason at all. I picked him up in my FA draft in a 30 team league, just hoping for 20-22 min a game starting off and maybe a larger role as the season progresses. Those projections look to be almost his ceiling though

i agree that trading some 3/pts for blks would make frye really valuable. last year, anderson was #49 in 9-cat bbm rankings. if frye breaks #75, that would be a steal. and it's entirely possible, he's done it in 3 consecutive years before being held out last year for his enlarged heart. hopefully that's behind him and he picks up where he left off.
13.9 pts, 5.4 rebs, 3.3 asts, 1.0 stls, 0.7 blks, 1.0 3pm, 1.9 to, 46 FG%, 78 FT%

Do you guys think he will be taking more minutes from Morris or Gortat?

Depends on how Gortat plays this season. Frye should easily be able to get 25-27 min this season playing both PF/C.

I think Morris because you can't have 2 bigs camping out at the 3 point line. They both are similar players I just think Frye will eventually supplant him because he is much better on defense.

Go to your wire and get your cheap "Ryan Anderson-lite PF,C" for nothing

(see Frye's 2010-11 season for reference)

So I'm guessing either Frye, Alex Len, or Miles Plumlee will be the starting center in Phoenix.....Either way, Frye probably figures to be a steal for anyone who picks him up now/drafts him late. To project 2 threes a night from Frye isn't crazy....

Grabbed him off the wire post-draft last week. Great news for Frye owners. 2 threes, 1 block, 7+ rebounds? Yes please.

Is he worth a pick up now? Can he beat out Len and Plumlee for the starting job?

No. He might start at PF initially, but that's probably Morris. What the Gortat trade does do is opens up minutes. Frye owners want him to get 28-32 so the 3s and BLKs can add up.

1) Trade Gortat for future assets
2) Play Frye 28-32, show he's healthy,
3) trade to contender at the deadline who needs a bench stretch 4 (6.5M, 6.5M player option in 14-15)
4) Roto owners put those early 3s, BLKs, low TOs in the bank.

Len, Plumlee, Morris do not have attractive fantasy profiles compared to Frye. I'm going to rake my leaves this weekend. I have more interest in that pile of leaves than I do the fantasy implication for Len, Plumlee and Morris because they will accumulate more stats with more minutes but they aren't or won't be particularly good in any categories. Frye's 3s, BLKs and low TOs in the first half of the season are fine wine off the wire.

Great assessment, and also what I think will happen. I grabbed Frye off the wire post-draft as a cheap source of rebounds, 3's and blocks....very happy with what this does for his value short term. I also agree that Frye will be showcased and then shopped before the deadline, and likely into a bench roll. I'd recommend owners hope that he puts up great fantasy-friendly numbers for the first chunk of the season (1 blk, 2 threes, and 7 rebounds is not unrealistic, and is a relatively rare combo of stats), and then trade him for as much as you can get for him. Great future sell-high candidate.

So glad I used my last pick on him. He can produce in 28 minutes that's for sure. Underrated asset.

Agreed he's far more useful in roto than h2h. He will likely be traded shortly as well.. but hopefully not too soon B)

So where is this guy's value at right now? Is he more valuable than guys like Harrison Barnes?

In my opinion, he always was!

His under-appreciated lines from 2010-11 had him as a top 30 player. Barnes has the upside to be top100... Not even close imo. If Frye still doesn't get minutes, you can drop him after a few weeks and replace him with someone similar to Barnes
