Was considering starting a thread for him a couple weeks back when he got me 20+ points. Not as flashy as the Walsh's and Zuerlein's but rock solid and consistent. The high powered offense helps him a ton.

Sadly, he's been the best player on my team as of late.

At this rate, he may be the first kicker I leave on my bench (as opposed to dropping) during my bye. He's also likely to set my personal record for consecutive weeks of having the same kicker. He's just a solid kicker. He doesn't have a monster leg, but Seattle continuously puts him in very makeable field goal situations.

I'm sad I couldn't be a part of this fun...had him week one and streamed into a pool of misery. He just got scooped and I couldn't pull the trigger.

Yeah I have him and I think I heard last night that he still hasn't missed from under 45? Just solid kicker and like said above Seattle can move the ball and usually playing with a lead so they will resort to kicks if needed.

I am an engineer by trade. Its always driven me nuts how to select an effective kicker, and just what gives a kicker the best chance to put points on the board. I finally spent 2 hours this morning data-mining, trying to determine what factors lead to being a top tier fantasy kicker. I looked at kicking fantasy points per game, and plotted it against defensive fantasy points per game, yards rushing per game, time of possession, and passer rating just to name a few, over the past 3 seasons. Some caveats were that I didn't look at the number of extra points, 30-39, 40-49 etc yard FG's. It was strictly kicking PPG, and this assumes all NFL kickers are of the same caliber. Within reason, you can say that's accurate. Its not like one kicks 97% and another kicks 70% for a whole season.

It turns out that the biggest factors that influence kicking PPG, are time of possession and QB passer rating (which are of course helped by having a run game, moving the chains, etc.)

Controlling the clock, and having an efficient QB tend to lead to the most kicking opportunities.

Looking at the past few seasons of the best kickers, you'll notice the teams tend to have game manager QB's that don't make mistakes, control the tempo, and rarely get pushed around on the field.

2011
49ers
Saints
Packers
Cowboys
Texans

2012
Patriots
Giants
Falcons
Vikings
Texans

2013 (so far)
Broncos
Patriots
Seahawks
Colts
Packers

You think kickers like Seabass, or Novak, or Folk may be at the top of the list. If they are, it may be luck, and it may be that they have a huge leg. All in all....when the season ends and you look back at the top 10 kickers, you'll find them on teams with smart QB's, who controlled the clock.

My $0.02

Such a godsend. It's like I'm starting another mid-tier receiver with this guy.

Gostkowski/Hauschka are the only kickers that were worth holding through a bye.

Said it in the streaming thread - he'd just about the only kicker I'd bench in the bye. I drafted Dawson (Browns fan, for old time's sake) but got lucky in dumping him for Hauschka in wk2. I've picked up Dawson for this week, but will be back riding Hauschka all the way home.

He is available in mine as we have owners who have given up. I would pick him up to block but Crosby is available as well and I have Prater. So I am actually thinking of carrying two kickers because Hauschka is that good

Wow that is deep. Thing is with Hauscka is his team provides the perfect storm for success. Good offense and a Great Defense. Now they'll have Percy running back kicks to give better field position too. Crosby will be great also with GB when Aaron comes back I'd trust him more with a powerful offense scoring. Without Aaron you have to just rely on the offense stalling which it may but they don't have the Defense like SEA to stop folks. Prater is awesome of course. You're talking about the 3 best options out there ROS (when aaron returns)

After failing to push through any trade for my weakness at TE, and giving up on Hartley after that run of 2-6 made on 3 weeks, I swung a trade for Hauschka right before the trade deadline to shore up another position for playoffs. I had been eyeing him in the draft and wish I had pulled the trigger, as he got picked up Week 2 and not let go of since, but I'll happily take him now for a WW kicker and a bench WR. More than happy to roll with Hauschka and the Seattle D for the rest of the season.

Haushka and Seattle's schedule is kind of rough ROS though. They play NO, @SF, @NYG, and Arizona. All of those defenses are solid. Someone dropped him for the bye in my league, and was considering picking him up but may change my mind after seeing that schedule.

Not necessarily a bad thing for a kicker - leads to more stalled drives and more kicks. Only problem would be if they couldn't move the ball AT ALL, which shouldn't be a problem between Lynch, Russell and Percy.
