Evidently the Win luck dragon lives in Philly and just switches off between PHI pitchers. Lee in '12. Hamels in '13. Kind of bummed his ADP or perceived ADP didn't fall further. His K rate has fluctated from 9 to 8 to 9 to 8 the last 4 years. And his HR/FB has been 12,10,12,9. This just in: stats fluctuate!

Anyways, FantasyPros has his composite ADP right at 13th SP with very little deviation. I wouldn't be surprised in Lee and him just flipped ADPs from las year.
http://www.fantasypr...rankings/sp.php

Bottom line: No velocity loss, Babip in line, his CH is still awesome. Only odd thing I could find was Razzball ranking him at 35. No, not 35 overall. 35th SP! Oh please let this be the consensus come draft day.

I'm all in on Hamels this year.   I expect to roster him in most leagues.

In on him too.  I wonder where Hamels ranked last year without Wins?

Not sure how I view this. Shoulder tendinitis might not even be a thing, could bump him down a rung on draft nights. I keep remembering all these scares from yesteryear: Pujols needs TJ? Felix's elbow ligament?

Will downgrade him a few rounds. Up to the player if its usual stuff that won't affect him and just make him cheap. I won't be taking the risk.

Hamels will be fine...that's why they signed Burnett like almost immediately once this news broke... :-/

As a brand new dynasty owner this could not be worse news.  Shoulder stuff is the worst.

They couldve signed Burnett because otherwise Kyle Kendrick was their #3 SP. They needed a SP whether Hamels' shoulder is tender or not.

Feel for you in dynasty, but this could just be a dead arm thing.

Reportedly, the shoulder is not the problem. The most recent reports say its bicep tendinitis:

Quote

Cole Hamels revealed Wednesday morning at Bright House Field that he will open the season on the disabled list because of discomfort in his left shoulder. He later called the issue biceps tendinitis, but he insisted he is not worried, he is pain-free and he will be pitching for Philadelphia sometime in April.
"Oh, yeah, yeah," Hamels said, when asked if he expects to pitch in a regular-season game before
The shoulder thing was reported early this morning and since then there have been multiple reports that its its really the biceps. hoping thats true since I already drafted him as my #2 in one league.

Guess thats what I get for deciding to draft for a YPro this early in the year.

What about Gaudin? He was terrific in the Giants rotation last year. They could easily slide him in.

That's what I would call catching lightning in a bottle. I don't think you wanna start out like that.

Back to your boy Cole (so we don't derail the thread), I would much rather him get a week late start than have his middle finger tendon sprained like Iwakuma.

I think you have to wait to see how long it takes him to get in a game before you can project.

It's too early to say stay away, lets wait to see him in spring training and if he reports any injuries or discomfort. Also we will see how hard he's throwing. If he really only misses the first week and for some reason he drops in drafts, he could be a big steal.

He's got a bullpen Tuesday. If that goes well there is a possibility he starts during the first week of the season. Didn't he start off last season the same away and they pushed him to pitch and he wound up having a terrible April.

I have to lock in my keepers a week from today. Hamels is on the bubble. Watching the situation closely.

He'll end up being a great value pick this season. If you can wait on pitching and get him as your #2 in the 7th/8th round you should be able to stack your hitting. Or if you're into auctions, you can probably get him at a $5-10 discount compared to comparable pitchers.

He was dropped on yahoo rankings today. Pefect timing as the news about his arm troubles was very premature. Hamels says he felt great throwing yesterday and is ready to take the next step which is throwing live games. He will be an excellent value this year.

Suffered setback. Nothing pain wise, but his arm is "fatigued" and he now won't throw for at least a week

Looking like he may end up missing most if not all of April at this rate
