David Wilson expected to be ready for camp
Posted Image

Sources tell ESPN's Adam Schefter that David Wilson (neck surgery) is ahead of schedule and expected to be ready for training camp.
We're talking about the spinal fusion surgery here, so nothing is guaranteed and the Giants are merely "hopeful." But the reports coming out of New York (likely from Wilson's camp) just one month following the procedure continue to be glowing. ESPN New York previously reported that Wilson has already begun weightlifting and working out, adding that there's no reason to believe the 22-year-old won't be playing in 2014. His Dynasty stock is back on the rise in a big way as a gifted natural runner with take it to the house upside on every carry. Andre Brown is a free agent.

Lol at the "Dynasty stock is back on the rise in a big way" and "take it to the house upside on every carry" lines. I can't believe he is already getting hyped. And couldn't just about any starting RB "take it to the house" in the right situation.

These guys are a joke. The guy put together possibly the biggest train wreck of a season in FF history, yet the RW staffers' unfounded love for him never wavered.

Why is it that whenever I read a David Wilson update I get a picture in my head of the person who writes them having a shrine of David Wilson all over his wall, with countless bottles of lube surrounding his computer?

I predict that I will stay as far away from him as possible. Now, if it's like, round 10 and he's still there, then sure, I'll take him. Otherwise, I'll let some other sucker, er, I mean, owner take him.

Somewhere, Evan Silva woke up like this this morning after reading Wilson's tweet that he's been cleared....

I wish they would use another adjective besides "explosive" or even a different word with the same meaning...unstable, frenzied, touchy, overwrought. It reminds me of articles where they always say the celebrity's outfit was "daring".

I don't know what you guys are complaining about.
From 'his career is potentially ended' to 'cleared to play'... That IS a big rise in dynasty.

Ability to take it to the house every time... Come on, hate him all you want, he sucks at blocking, playbooks etc, but you can't honestly tell me that the statement isn't true.

I agree, their hype last year was way overboard, but the blurb above is accurate in my opinion.

I've had my fair share of busts over the years, but David Wilson is probably the worst.

When you only receive -2 points from your 3rd/4th round pick all year, it's almost comical. Especially when he was playing 1/2 the season. I started him week 1 and that was it. Went straight to the bench and cut him to waivers finally when he was put on IR. What a train wreck owning him was last season.
14 Team RW Mock Real League - .5 PPR, 6 pt. passing TDs
QB: Sam Bradford
RB1: Adrian Peterson
RB2: Melvin Gordon
WR1: Mike Evans
WR2: Golden Tate
W/R/T: Jarvis Landry
W/R/T: Roddy White
TE: Jordan Cameron
Bench: Isaiah Crowell, Chris Johnson, Carson Palmer, Ladarius Green, Antonio Gates, Travaris Cadet

I agree. I'll be targeting him in all drafts if I can get him cheap.

Also, this is probably why they describe him as "explosive":

the bottom line is this guy runs with power and has physical ability that very few RBs in the league have. he is a legit threat to score from anywhere at anytime and is a no brainer flier at his current draft price

Is the type of surgery he had of the "cross your fingers every time he takes a hit" type?

This is just like the Josh Gordon thread from last year.

Yeah, I'm actually curious, is it like what P.Manning had done, or something completely different?

This was a reasonable, short read discussing the surgery -- comparing Wilson with J. Finley and P. Manning.
http://www.readingne...herniation.html

The determination of health is offered here:
Both (Finley and Wilson) are recovering from anterior cervical diskectomy and fusion surgery (ACDF). Peyton Manning underwent this surgery and was cleared for return to play. However, specific criteria must be met prior to resuming contact sports.

A recent article in the journal Neurosurgery demonstrated athletes are safe to return to full contact sports after a single level anterior cervical fusion if the player demonstrated a solid fusion, full range of motion of the neck and a normal neurologic exam. If any residual signs of neurological irritation exist the player cannot not be cleared for full contact.

After reading this and other articles, this does not appear to be a cross your fingers when he gets hit type of thing...

We can all just go back to crossing our fingers that he doesn't fumble when he gets hit though...

Seeing as how you can get this guy as your 4th, 5th, or in some cases maybe your 6th RB with an ADP in round 12 I don't think he is in anyway over hyped. Take him and if he is healthy and wins out the job then you hit on one of your late round lotto tickets. If he doesn't then you cut him, like you would probably 75% of the time with your 12th round pick.

He's a fine later round flier. I'm a VT guy so I should be all over him, I just don't think he'll ever be a reliable NFL starting RB. He oozes explosiveness but just doesn't seem to have the intangibles. He's a great kick returner though.
I have 2 warning points. How many until I get a prize?
