1. Signed Revis
2. Sources say Browner is close to a deal with the Pats
3. Wilfork requests his release as he's unwilling to restructure his deal

Pats also offered Edelman a 3 year deal but he decided to test free agency.

Not worried about the state of the defense but the WR position looks super thin at the moment.

Need WR help, DT help and safety help.

Is it clear that they will release Wilfork?

Where they are in the draft, they can get one of the top 3 DT's in Round 1 IMO.

I guess if they sign Browner, maybe they'd need to clear enough cap space by releasing Wilfork.  Revis' deal only counts 7.5 M for this year, and the Pats still have about 10M to play with, but remember that 4M is usually needed for rookies.   I can't imagine Browner will get so much they MUST cut Wilfork, so this ought to be interesting.

If the 49ers shell out the $ for Edelman, I think he's gone.   He probably realizes this is his one shot at a big payday.  If the 49ers don't bite, he'd obviously be better served to return to NE, but for guys like him, the big contract only likely comes 1x in their career, so can't fault them nearly as much as elite difference-making talents.

the two CBs look good but they need some other things also. brady since like 2007 in the playoffs looks like he is trying to win all while purposely trying to lose. the seahawks team will be in trouble with all the FAs in 2015 and 2016.r

gronk back is huge. brady and Edelman had a chemistry and I would say is better than welker now. mayo comesback also.

LB Collins will be good this season. check out chandler jones stats who got no recognition and nikovich stats. sacks and tackle totals that are elite.

Top 5 fantasy defense next year NO DOUBT.  Lots of questions about the receiving corps, but this team will be back in the AFC championship regardless.

I hope Edelman comes back. He belongs there.

The value on Brady could be better than ever.

I sure would love to lay off all of their RBs.

But the value is always so FING tempting.

Too bad the accuracy on Brady's deep ball is so iffy now. Used to be elite, now it's 50/50 at best.

They lost Spikes and Talib. Browners out 4 Games. Maybe they still trade for Fitzgerald and take a flier on Britt and Holmes or Sanders who they tried to get last year but as of now not looking so good for them.

someone was on the forum a few years ago talking about how their family member during thanksgiving worked for the patriots and was drunk and said they were going to get fitzgerald. then yahoo wrote an article on how close they were a few years ago recently.

they do need Edelman.

Kenny Britt might be an interesting signing(if it happens). If Britt gets signed, then the Pats will have arguably the most brittle receiving corps in the league - Gronk, Amendola and Britt.

They're also adding Revis, Browner (first 4 games of the season don't mean anything in NE), Mayo, Kelly, and potentially Wilfork to a team that made the AFC Championship last year.  Offensively they're adding Gronk and LaFell to a team that was 3rd in points scored last season.

They're much better off today than they were in January.

Maybe 6, you still have Denver that improved and will have Von back, Seattle, 49ers, Bears who look alot better, and KC. Team like acquiring Mack and a Gilbert or Dennard could put them in contention to, even though it is highly unlikely.

Offense wise, thier WR core still sucks, they should take a flier on Britt and Holmes or try really hard to trade for Larry Fitz.

The Pats have all the right pieces in place to be a top defense in the NFL.

Lockdown defenders and veterans in the secondary will lead to plenty of coverage sacks.

As long as Wilfork and Mayo can come back and be effective, they are solid.  Could use another pass rusher though..

Last year didnt they finish 11 overall.

You are adding a Probowl Safety in TJ Ward
You are replacing a warn out Champ Bailey with a top 5 DB in Aqib Talib
You are also adding Demarcus Ware and Von Miller will be back
They still have not drafted yet if Roby falls to them they address the lost of Rodgers Cromartie.

Bears were safetys were consistently injured, so was Lance Briggs.
Bears Added tons of DE Lamarr Houston, Jared Allen, and Willie Young
New Safety Mundy added 2 other but there mediocre.
Add in Tillman, Hayden, and Briggs

Yeah I think they could be top 5. Allen has that Ray Allen type presence and this defense is much more capable then the Vikings.

I also think the Cardinals will drop out of the top 5 this year with the lost of Dansby and the Honey Badger coming off of knee surgery.
