Gotta start a post for my team lol. Whitner gone, T. Brown gone, Dixon apparently tweeting that he has signed with the Bills, Bowman will be out possibly half the season, etc. etc.
I am personally glad Dixon will be gone as it will free up some room that was going to be needed with Lattimore getting in the mix. Niners sign Bethea, Martin, Gabbert, and Cook. I think Bethea will be a better cover corner than Whitner, but definitely doesn't have that tone-setting ability (although it seems the NFL is looking to outlaw that anyway). I like the Martin signing because it really cost them nothing and could possibly pan out to a spark in his career under his former head coach. Can't say I really know much about Cook, and Gabbert is whatever haha.
Reports that they have met with Edelman and that Sanders will be meeting with the team on Sunday. I wouldn't mind seeing either of those guys come in and help bolster the receivers a little.
Like the Bethea signing. Solid player, good experience, ZERO penalties in 2013. Those flags on 3rd down that keeps drives alive are killers.
Dixon was great for the team, but its probably time he moved on.
Martin deal is great. Niners seem to target top talent at discounted rates. He's going to be a great player for us, at least giving us depth on the O-line. Cook is another high draft pick that could pay dividends.
We're probably going CB or D-Line in the first two rounds, unless a receiver slips to us, but we already have Patton who showed flashes, and if we sign Sanders then its a moot point. I'd say D-Line, especially since the Ian Williams injury left us a little thin (even tho Dorsey was awesome). Probably a Run-stuffing, hole plugging, monster D-Lineman, since we already have Tank Carradine and even Lemonier I think they like to line up at end on pass rushing downs. An elite corner would put our D over the top, especially losing Brown to the Raiders (how the hell do you go from the Niners to the Raiders!). Everyone knows you go to play for SF to win, you go to Oakland to party and not give a f---.
Read today that they are talking with Brandon Lloyd about whether or not he would be interested in returning to the NFL. He is still only 32 and had a decent season in 2012. What are thoughts on his possible addition to their receiving corps?
they signed everyone of their draft picks to four year deals. everyone. do team usually do this.
Yes, every team does this with their rookies - the only difference is how much guaranteed $ the players get. That's what separates the teams.
Basically the NFL puts the teams in control for 4 years, and in the case of highly drafted rookies, also offers a team 5th-year option that players agree to (because the team is in the drivers' seat). So nothing really different - in most of the rookie deals, there's little to no guaranteed $ in the 2nd-4th years, except for the 1st/2nd round draft picks. So, cutting a player after Year 1 might be bad return on the draft pick, but $-wise, nothing is really lost in most cases.

Sources tell FOX Sports that 49ers ILB Patrick Willis (toe) is likely done for the season.
Willis has been sidelined since spraining his left toe in Week 6. It appears he'll need season-ending surgery, a devastating blow to the Niners even though backup Chris Borland has been a major revelation. Willis, 29, is a five-time first-team All-Pro, seven-time Pro Bowler and arguably the game's premier cover linebacker. Fantasy owners are free to stream tight ends against San Francisco, starting with Larry Donnell in Week 11.
Well THAT sucks. I guess 2014 we are never going to have our entire starting defense healthy all at the same time. At least Chris Borland has been playing well, although I find no comfort in the RW blurb implying we can no longer cover the TE.
