Hey guys,

As most of you probably know, Robertson has headed to the 15 day DL with a grade one groin strain. This will provide a great opportunity to Shawn Kelley to close for the Yanks. I think that Kelley would be a much better closer, and he will show that during Robertson's DL stint.

Any particular reason why you feel this way?

Need a reason to say he's better than Robertson. That's kind of a ridiculous statement, especially with no back up.

He can get a decent amount of strikeouts but he's no where near as good as Robertson. I think he can hold down the job for a while.

can I ask why you think that??

career 3.72 ERA and 1.26 WHIP, including a career high 4.39 ERA and 1.313 WHIP last season with the Yanks

Robertson is a stud...Kelley is not even close to his league IMO.

So is he definitely the guy to own? No committee, Kelley will get the save chances?

His FIP & xFIP were 3.63 and 3.24 last year and his K/9 was 11.98 so there are stats to be found that portray him in a little better light.  The 3.88 BB/9 is definitely concerning.

I'd agree he is not better than Robertson but at the same time he is absolutely worthy of a pick up.

I honestly think he would be a better setup man than closer. While it's not much of a sample size, he blew 2/5 saves last year.

Both of the blown saves were in the 8th inning...

So he was actually 3/3.

Besides for one hiccup 2 years ago he's been dominant the last few years. Kelley is a replacement level middle reliever.

This comparison is a joke...

While Kelley is an underrated reliever in his own right, aside from a higher k/9 last year the only edge that Kelley has on Robertson is swinging strike rate.

Kelley is a grinder and has a closer mentality. Do you all not see it?

I mean I like Kelley as a pickup but to say hes better than Robertson is just silly at this point.

The two things that concern me are the high bb rate and the high-ish HR totals.  Those are two things you dont want to see in a closer.  Hes going to be blowing games

I dont think im going to add him.  Theres no one I really want to drop for a guy that might get shalacked just as easily as he might close a game.  Im not willing to sacrifice the peripheral stats for a few saves

Is it crazy to think the Yanks should put Robertson in the setup role where we know he is lights out?  Kelley has seemed to embrace closing.  If it ain't broke...

Kelley has guts and has good stuff but no way I see the yankees changing Robertson from the closer role especially since he's been good on that role before injury. Also yankees have been wanting Robertson to become the closer once rivera retired
