Maybe the new Angels Closer? Frieri imploded last night and Smith may be there to fill the void.

i swooped as a speculative add since I had an extra spot...

could be huge if he somehow takes the job and runs for the angels

best arm in the pen and sub 3 ERA in 388 IP ... not a big K/9 guy but i really hope he's given the chance as I do think he will run with it.

Picked up as handcuff to Frieri... Didn't want to make room for him but I think if you have Frieri you gotta.

I HIR 100% with good quality. I missed 2 HIRs but that was among the first ~100 HIRs I gave. Pretty sure I'm 100% honest since :)

If you say WHIR, I hope you honor it. I'll still help you in the future even if you don't HIR, but credit is a wonderful thing :) Although I estimate reciprocated HIR rate to me is ~75% (been trending up!), I expect it to rise further as we build a more helpful community here.

Frieri owner here, looking at the Angels' depth chart, Smith sure seems like the only possible option. I grabbed him 5 minutes ago.

At least he's consistent.

His coach is probably the most counter logic manager in baseball if that answers your question.

Hope this guy runs with it and erases the "for now" part but with this manager I'm not betting on it. Frieri owners with the room shouldn't dump him altogether just yet it sounds like.

Joe Smith did not run with it when given a shot last year in CLE. I'd grab him to vulture a couple weeks worth of saves, but wouldn't expect him to hold the job ROS even if he pitches decently.

Team 1: Yahoo 12 team H2H with playoffs - usual 5x5 + OPS and QS

Wow, thanks for the fake-out, Scioscia. "Frieri is still our closer" then... SURPRISE IT'S JOE SMITH. Actually would have been better to be LATE to this news.
