Obviously we all utilize the free content on Rotoworld, but I'm curious as to how many actually purchase the Rotoworld Draft Guide/Season Pass etc?

I recently purchased both the Draft Guide and Season Pass with the FanDuel promo they have been running. I have to say I've been underwhelmed by much of the content. Most of it seems to be the same content which is on their main site just in a easier to find format.

Does anyone else use it? Do you feel it has been beneficial to your fantasy football success?

I do not use it. Rotoworld is a great news site, but that's where it ends for me.

That little blue writing underneath the black headlines (the real news), that is their take on everything. Literally every news report can have 2 outcomes (in it's simplest form). Roto is literally 50% on their takes on the news. You can read a news blurb off Twitter, flip a coin, and do JUST as good as a job.

Their analysis is mediocre at best, and that's what you are buying when you buy their draft guide. Read the news, use common sense to form your own opinion, then read the blue writing and note what you see, you will find you often take the same news quite differently, and often times you will be correct.
2014 represents the year I go back to back champion for the first time in my FF career.

Lol of course not. What track record of success to they or any of the others really have that isn't the common knowledge floating around the community.

I like rotoworld as my stop for news on who is hurt and suspended and who inactive etc. General news also. Who they like is nothing special.

Ha this has been my thinking for the past 7 or 8 years. I did regularly buy a draft guide a long time ago, I think it was Sportingnews. But it seems like with so much free stuff available it's completely unnecessary. Just like porn. I have a buddy who swears by rotowire though. Thinks it's worth the money.

I have 2 warning points. How many until I get a prize?

These forums have as much or more useful info than any draft guide I've seen. It's mixed in with a lot of noise, but there's good stuff here if you can filter it out.

Also, the more you know where each poster is coming from, the more you're likely to get useful information from the forums.

The best you can get with "experts" is to compile a history of players that they whiffed on and players they were right about. On here, you can actually start to learn each person's bias. If they lean towards a certain team or player, if they were burned by someone the year before and are still raw about it, you can weed out the noise and try to find the best information for your own personal draft strategy.

The other cool thing is that you're getting most of this information from people who are generally the most attentive fantasy players who aren't paid to write about it.

Also, when was the last time Matthew Berry or Evan Silva or someone similar hyped someone like William Powell, Chad Spann, Ifeanyi Momah, or Theo Riddick? Their deep league sleepers are guys that are generally drafted in any competitive league.

This. There's some posters on this site that truly give better insight than anything I've seen from the professionals. As long as you're aware of their biases, you can gain some incredible knowledge here.

Of course, there's also trolls who you have to automatically disregard, but that's the cost of free content.

Matthew Berry... LOL

The wealth of knowledge on these forums trumps anything that corporate whore has ever come up with.

Seems like paying for porn.

This is spot on. The reason I decided Yoo sign up this year is because the subscription was free when you uploaded $15 onto FanDuel, so I figured I'd give it a go.

I wouldn't do it again unless than ran a similar promotion.

I did the deal this year for the first time as well. I'm with you I don't see myself doing it again. Theres a lot of insight I simply don't agree with.

I may be a moron but I use it for both Football and baseball - I like being able to print off their rankings and using them as a jumping off point for customizing my cheatsheets. I have found them to be pretty useful. I don't agree with all of the insights, but that is part of the process, reading a lot and drawing your own conclusions.

I am looking at Yahoo's draft kit and it is basically just partnered with Rotoworld it looks like, and is using their top 200. Do any of yall find this "draft kit" unusual/outdated/or just incorrect?

Some weird ones for me are that they show:

Gronk - #16 overall
Peyton - #28 overall
Lynch - #10 overall

Can anyone confirm if this is outdated or something? I'm no "expert", but it's a bit strange. I just go to the Yahoo league page -> Draft Central -> Draft Kit -> View All Cheat Sheets -> Overall top 200.

Is there a different one I should be looking at or is this it?

I just checked my yahoo. I don't think it's outdated because they have montee at 12 and alshon at 18.

That's a good point. Maybe that's just how they feel about those 3 players. Fair enough and thanks.

Their rankings were actually helpful this weekend at my draft. Everyone else had the ESPN cheat sheet, while my brother and I had Roto's. Everyone in this league knows their stuff, but I believe the two of us got some of the best values in the draft. Especially in the later rounds.

If I win my league I'll say it was worth it ;)

Was Gronk ranked #16 in your Roto draft guide?

Yep. My brother got him with the first pick in the 3rd (or last pick in the 2nd).
