It doesn't seem that serious... I think I overheard the reporter saying he'd be back or something...
Edit: Yep, he even wants to come back into the game according to Marv...

Peja is a MONSTER 3 specialist and FG/FT specialist. Plz go run and grab your Posey, I'll keep my stud in Peja!

what about Mo Pete?
he's available in my league.

Sounds like Peja's ankle is going to be okay, but that he'll be out for a little bit. I don't think he'll play on Saturday.
Posey is the short term pickup, not MoPete or Butler.

huh? posey should have already been taken in all 12+ team leagues. regardless of peja's status, posey is great for 3s and stls from the bench.

I'm in a 12 team league where someone dropped Posey yesterday. I think in a 12 team league there are better options unless Peja is out for more than a week (and it doesn't look that way right now... I heard on TV that he wanted to return to the game as well).
From what I've seen, Deshawn Stevenson might be a nice pickup for those of you who need 3s. I watched him in the first game and all he does is chuck 3s... he did the same thing in the pre-season games and last season. He gets a ton of playing time and will get plenty of opportunities to chuck wide-open shots. %s might be bad, but he might make enough to be worth it. He is available in most 12-team leagues as Yahoo pre-ranked him pretty low.

Rats, right in the middle of a solid game too.
So I'm confused, he wanted to come back into the game?
But Rotonews is now reporting a severe ankle sprain with Peja possibly being out until next Wednesday? What changed? Rapid swelling?

After he was injured he went into the locker room. A few minutes later TNT gave an update saying he's just getting his ankle re-taped and Peja wanted to come back and play. It was already late in the 4th quarter though and never saw him return.
Well, if he misses the next game (Saturday) then they don't play again until Wednesday. So essentially he's missing 1 game, but because the Hornets have a crappy schedule these 2 weeks it's going to be a long break.

Severe sprains can be much worse than initially expected.
Earlier this season in baseball, Jimmy Rollins sprained his ankle and he was thought to be out for a few days. A few days turned into a few weeks, and Rollins wasn't really the same for several months.
Just saying, it wouldn't be the first time a player or his team are overly optimistic about an injury.

And this is Peja.
So just to be safe, let's rule him out for 40 games

a severe sprain often is worse and takes longer to heal than a broken ankle...

Although I own Posey in one league and have to give him up in another league because I am full of 3pt shooters there from the auto draft, I would say that Mo Pete and Posey will split time and Butler will get more minutes is Peja is down.

Posey's fantasy value is MUCH lower than his real life value. I don't think he is even worth owning in 12 team leagues unless your roster is weak, despite the hype. A few threes? A steal or two? Pretty much nothing else? I'll pass.
Don't get me wrong, though, I think Posey will be one of the main guys helping NOK get to the Western conference finals this year.

I'd disagree with you here - a guy that can knockdown a couple 3's a night as well as provide a steal a game without turning the ball over is a nice player to have in any format. He's not going to contribute in every category, but for a team that needs 3's, steals, and low turnovers, he's a servicable player. Combine that with the fact that Peja is injury prone and Chris Paul is going to give him the opportunity for a ton of wide open shots, you could do a lot worse with a bench spot.

I agree you can do alot worse, but guys with a low statistical ceiling and varying performances I tend to shy away from. He's basically a poor man's Shane Battier, which is a compliment, but he obviously has more value in a roto format, which I rarely play. I would rather grab a guy like Arthur or Chalmers and see if it works out than stay with a vanilla Posey that will never give you more than you expect from him.
Also take notice that Mo-Pete was much more valuable last night than Posey. I think he will give a bigger fantasy contribution on most nights.

No official words out there yet, but that description of "severely sprained" came out of Craig Saiger's mouth. Not official reports from doctors or team. I mean, Peja wasn't even lying on the ground after he hurt it and he walked with his own power to the bench and then to the locker room. He even told Byron he will get it taped up and come back to the game.
So I doubt this is a "high ankle sprain." He's listed as a day-to-day. If i had to guess he misses 1-2 weeks (considering he's Peja)

I was thinking the exact same thing. I'd say he's going to be doubtful to play next week, but probably shouldn't miss much more time than that.

I dunno if he was top 10, i do remember when he was good, like top 40. top 10 does sound a bit insane, maybe top 10 for a month or two.

Via rototimes:
Stojakovic is out with sprained ankleThe New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that Peja Stojakovic will miss Saturday's home opener with a sprained ankle. No timetable has been set for his return but coach Byron Scott said, "Peja's ankle looked like a baseball was in there, it was that swollen.'' Our View: The news does not sound good for Peja owners. Look for Rasual Butler and James Posey to play bigger roles as long as he is out.
I'd look into Posey, but also note that Mo Pete has been getting a lot of shots too and is actually in the starting lineup. He may be looked at to carry more of the O.
