Sheets has gotten any press on this board as of late, so what the heck.
Where do you see him going? I have a feeling he will re-sign with the Brewers IF the Yanks do not get CC. If they do get him, then I see Boston persuing Sheets as a counter move. Sheets is injury-prone, but he is a stud when healthy.
I wish my White Sox would give him an offer.

I'm wishing the Dallas native will return home and play for the Rangers. Mike Maddux and Nolan Ryan have a close relationship with Sheets so the chances are pretty good. With Hicks as the owner however, I don't think he forks up the cash to get him signed.

Sheets would be a great signing for Texas. They haven't had a decent SP since Kevin friggin Brown.

Yup, it sure would. Millwood as the #1 pitcher on this staff just yells out "Worst Pitching Staff in Majors!!" I would love to see a lineup as follows:

1- Ben Sheets
2- Vicente Padilla
3- Kevin Millwood
4- Scott Feldman/Brandon McCarthy
5- Matt Harrison/Luis Mendoza/Eric Hurley

Not great, but at least somewhat decent.

ugh.. that still hurts!! #1 reason why I believe Tom Hicks doesn't want to put up the cash for some of these FA's.

I swear I heard on the radio that he was from Grand Prairie.. but you're right, he is from Louisiana but resides in Highland Park (Dallas, TX).

I'll say he stays in the NL:

Brewers
Astros
Giants

Depends how serious the Giants are about winning. I don't think it will happen either though. However, if you pick up Furcal, add Sheets, Manny is now out of that division, the DBacks are young and inconsistent, they really aren't far away at all from competing.

Cardinals make any sense?

No, don't think so. They already have a situation with Carpenter and I don't think they want to get involved with another pitcher whose coming off a late season injury.

I just hope he doesn't hurt himself signing the contract. Those plastic BIC pens can be LETHAL!!! ohmy.gif

I can't believe nothing is going on with Sheets...or Lowe really. I thought once CC got signed, the rest of the dominoes would fall...
Sheets would be an excellent fit in Texas I think.

Just about any contender could use the consistent goodness of Lowe too.

I'd really like the Yanks to load up on their staff and sign Sheets. That way, we'd have plenty of options and a way to use Sheets while not stretching him too thin and risking injury.

I'm allowed to dream, aren't I?

I hope the Braves get him, but I'm very worried about his health risks. So if possible, I wouldn't mind signing him as long as we sign another pitcher, or maybe trade for one (Greinke?). A rotation of Greinke, Sheets, Jurrjens, Vasquez, Campillo/Hanson would be pretty solid.

Seriously, I hope the Yanks sign him to a big deal just so he'll be the next Carl Pavano.

Pavano had one good year then got the big bucks and then was derailed by injuries. Sheets has a consistent injury record and maintains a great reputation as an ace, but yeah, I get your point.

I have no facts to base this off of, but I think the braves will after him hard now

AZ. but I think that was just a sports writer saying they should persue him. Webb, Haren, Sheets...holy crap.

If the White Sox pull of a Brian Roberts for Gavin Floyd trade, you may just see the Sox jump in for Sheets.

I keep hearing Texas as well, but...

I can't help but thinking that if Texas wants him like they are saying and he is interested, like he is saying, then it would already be done.

What I think is more likely happening is that Sheets or his agent is stringing them along to get a market going and that way another team that wants him feels as if Texas is a legit suiter and will pay him more.

It is likely Sheets' last big contract, so he has to play it well. Yes, he has often been injured, but none of them have been arm injuries. A lot of them have been off the wall injuries like the ear infection that messed his equilibrium up. I've never even heard of that in the sports arena. Sure, he could have played through it, but it would have messed up his control slightly. blink.gif

I still believe somehow Pettitte will sign with the Yanks. But, if he doesn't, I think the Yanks will still be in the Sheets race. I don't believe they have confidence is Hughes. Also, Joba is a huge question mark to remain healthy. I know Cash & Girardi are big fans.

Your probably right but they have been saying here in Dallas that the only way the Rangers will sign Sheets is if they can get rid of a contract (Millwood, Padilla, Catalanotto). I still think they will be able to sign him since they got his old pitching coach and they already got Turnbow for that reason.

I think the Yankees might be done signing players, and Ive heard they have/or are about to withdraw their offer to Pettite. I dont see Sheets signing with the Yankees, only because I dont think they will offer another large contract to a player this year. Ive heard that the Giants either already have offered or are going to offer Sheets a contract, but he doesn't want to sign there. I Think he should sign a 1 year contract and then hit the market next year (this way he can try and prove he is 100% healthy and get that huge longterm contract). I think he will land in one of these places next year: Texas, San Francisco, Oakland (Just throwing these teams out there), NY Mets, and possibly the NY Yankees

Ugh, they'd better go after Sheets if they get rid of Floyd. Otherwise they'd have a potentially dreadful rotation. Hell, they should go after sheets anyway.
