Ever since I got home from work yesterday, I've been tinkering w/ the Yankees in Season Mode. Just note that Texas will trade away Josh Hamilton basically for Johnny Damon! The first hit of the game? Teixeira homers off of Guthrie. And Sabathia shuts out the O's. It's going to be a sweet season!

My only dislike remains what I've always disliked. The commentary is so annoying b/c they're well behind the actual action on the field. "And this should be extra bases for Jeter!" Uh, you're stating that as the RF plays the ball on the hop, so it can't possibly be anything more than a single.

WOW...i am impressed with this game...ive been gettin owned by the cpu...but im sure i will pick it up eventually...good thing its only spring training...LOL

Seriously, though, do select your own fav team in Season Mode? I've done 1 AL team & 1 NL team before just to see all the stadiums & face all the pitchers.

Like I mentioned, I'm managing the Yankees right now. They start the season on the road so I haven't seen the new Yankee Stadium yet. I'll probably go into an exhibition game this evening just to check it out though.

In MLB 08, I would manage the Yankees in the AL & the Dodgers in the NL. Hey, I spent 10 years in L.A. & lived somewhat near the stadium, so seemed like a natural choice. I just had to trade away a lot of that team though, since I couldn't go to war w/ Kent & Nomar!

Matt Weiters isnt in the game. They can only put players that have MLB experience in the game for some reason. Although, that random catcher would be Matt Weiters if they couldve put him in. So just change the information, and thats what hed be rated.

I set up the Career Mode but haven't played it yet, as I'm still enjoying the Season Mode. Anyway, my "Joe Random" will be a 1B in the NY Mets system. I'd go for the Yankees but I have a feeling 1B will be blocked for a little while ...

oh, i kno that they wouldnt actually use weiters name, but in the past, they use their real stats in terms of height, weight, and so on...but i couldnt find a switch hitting catcher in their minor league system...so i wasnt sure which guy to change names...lol

I haven't bought MLB 09 The Show yet. I'm gonna go out to the store today later on so i'll probably get then.

But one question i wanna know is. Is the rosters in MLB 09 all Updated? with everyone on their new teams i.e. Teix , CC , Manny on LA etc.


Cause i heard on a commercial that MLB 2K9 has all the updated rosters. But i remember last year's the rosters weren't as was MLB 08 The Show.


Any body with both games or anybody who owns them seprately know?

No, not completely updated. For ex., Andy Pettitte is a free agent in the default settings. I would use the date of Pettitte's real life signing as a guideline as to how accurate the default rosters are. We can always update the roster settings online though.

The first roster update for MLB 09 The Show is now out after a short delay. This update includes 175 player movements and several name additions. Some of the changes are listed below but Ken Griffey Jr is now on the Mariners also. Manny Ramirez did not sign in time to make this update. It's likely we'll see the next one, which should be due out on Monday, include him and other more recent moves.

i LOOVE this game. been playing it since last Tuesday. an improvement over last year's game which is saying a whole lot, since 08 was already a pretty solid game.

and speaking of Pedroia, did any of you folks get to catch all the commercials for the game? pretty funny, and enjoyable for fans AND haters of his!

The play has gotten tougher & the graphics are amazing, but I'm impressed by the realism of the management section of the Franchise mode. Instead of contracts w/ random years & dollar amounts should you restart a franchise, the contracts appear to always closely resemble real life deals. AND now you have to deal w/ options, arbitration, etc. For ex., I wanted to send Melky Cabrera to AAA but he's out of options, so I couldn't do that w/o exposing him to other teams. Just like in real life! WOW!

By the way, I restarted my Franchise b/c I figured out a little trick. The Mets carry both K-Rod & Billy Wagner, who is not injured in the game as the 2009 season starts. They both make well over $10 million a season, so the Mets will easily trade either closer for a crap SP!

not at all, 95% of my games are lag free. I've played about 125 games online so far...great game.

I'm thinking about getting a ps3 specifically for this game. I still love MVP Baseball 2005 on the gamecube...all time favorite baseball game.

I've enjoyed playing in the Season Mode. I esp. liked the Rookie Draft & snagging fake top prospects, lol! The only thing that annoys me is that after completing a season, a lot of star players seem to retire too early. 33/34 is too early to frickin' retire!

I hated this game and then it grew on me so much. Still play it to this day, love it. Hit so many homers with Kinsler and Manny.
