What do we project his numbers to be? Does he get 35 minutes a game now?
hornrimmed_rambis
i don't believe this is the long-term solution, because grant hill is also being asked to start at 4, which he can't possibly handle. even if they start barbs, he's going to be a 30 minute guy. eventually, barnes MUST play a lot of 4 and slide everyone else down.

there is simply no way that amare being out has a meaningful impact on barbosa's value, imho, other than the general increase in minutes for all players in the rotation.
Irish
I disagree, I think Barbosa's value definitely goes up, simply because they are relying much more on their perimeter guys now.

plus, any time you have 30+ minutes on the court with nash in a runandgun system, you're bound to produce.
strega
15 steals in his last 4.5 games. Barbosa and JRich are tearing it up.
JetCityPersian
Wow, Barbosa exploding
XUmuskies
Wow! Love seeing Barbs do this... just got him and Smoove for Millsap and Z-Bo.
strega
16-21, 41/7/7/6/5treys blink.gif
Rayman
Can he average 20+ the rest of the way with 5reb/5ast?

'twas a good night to own Jason Richardson and Leandro Barbosa.

But I am afraid the Suns will not play the Thunder every night.
bloopy
ugh there's so much talent in my 10 teamer... it's ridiculous

i just dropped brooks for barbosa. jarrett jack & marquis daniels are available too...

if theyre still planning to go back to the run and gun, i think barbosa will be able to put up his numbers from 2 years ago, which are awesome. i love that he shoots a high % while knocking down so many 3s. he should be well rested from terry porter not playing him in the 1st half, so he should have plenty of gas left in the tank. hopefully he can get a ton of steal from here on out too.

He should be able to add more points than what he did two years ago. Amare and Marion were on that team back then and Barbosa didn't start too many games. He should easily put up 22/4/4 every game for the rest of the year.

Wow, I dropped Salmons for him before tonight's game and tonight's game confirmed that I made the right decision. Rock on.
Thats Ridiculous
i'm brand new in the Barbosa owner club.
i hope he continues to get a lot of Steals. that's what i traded for.

Hyperextended knee. Out for the game and most likely longer. Did not look good.

Instant value boost to Jason Richardson!
concac
goddamit...i jus traded for him and 1st game playin for me today
Thats Ridiculous
i benched Barbosa and J-Rich tonite, on purpose. and i'm fine with that decision.
i've been looking into Matt Barnes lately. i like his ability to get Assists. i might end up picking him up soon. maybe.
i might drop Gomes.

Hopefully for you he's a quick healer but this one didn't look good. The sideline reporter was talking like it could be season ending.

same here, 1st game since i traded for him and he goes down.

well, he's been lacking in the steals lately anyway.

Suns guard Leandro Barbosa hyperextended his left knee in the first quarter of Wednesday's game and will not return.

X-rays were negative after Barbosa hit the floor awkwardly with 26.3 seconds to go in the first quarter. Consider him day-to-day, and look for Grant Hill to step up in his place tonight.

whew...jus be healthy for the playoffs for me, barbie

I wouldn't be too worried about the steals with the 19pts on 48% shooting and 2 threes per game over his last 5. I would be more than happy to take those stats.

i need all the steals in teh world.

Leandro Barbosa will miss 1-3 weeks with a bone contusion in his left knee.

Three weeks at this stage of the season is a lot of time, but Barbosa was playing well enough prior to the injury that it's probably worth holding onto him to see if he makes it back on the early side of that timetable. With that said, owners scrapping for every point they can get right now will probably want to cut him loose. Jason Richardson, Matt Barnes and Grant Hill all figure to see a spike in minutes while Barbosa is out.

what are owners doing with this guy? cutting him or keeping him?
i'll probably keep him and bench him, but damn it would've been better if he was diagnosed as done for the rest of the season. then i'd replace him with someone else.
and i should've picked up Matt Barnes last night, but i hesitated and someone else picked him up. i would've dropped Gomes.
i need a few more assists. i might drop Gomes anyway, and pick Blake back up. if Blake gets 5 assists and a couple steals tonite, i might do it.
bloopy
ugh i just dropped barbosa for dooling hahaha
Thats Ridiculous
i'm pondering on whether i should drop Barbosa and pick up Jason Thompson.

here are some of my reasonings:
-i did love Barbosa for his ability for collecting Steals, because that's the category i'm closing in on on 2 teams ahead of me by about 18 and 12 steals. i do have faith that i can catch up and pass both teams, but time is running out and i'm getting a little bit worried. yet, Barbosa has actually slowed down in the Steals department lately. the past 8 games he's only got 4 steals total. the game before that, he got 4 steals in one game.
this injury could keep him out for about 1 week to 3 week. it would be a lot easier if we knew for sure whether it's on the long side or the short side of the timetable. and even when he comes back, he'll probably be rusty and a little cautious. thus lowering the chances even more of him improving his steals.
also, the Suns are in the 9th spot right now behind Dallas by 4 wins. it doesn't seem likely that the Suns can catch up in time for the playoffs. but it's also a little too early to count them out as well. gah.
-now, in regards to Jason Thompson... my team has been closing in on the team ahead of me in FG% and FT%. i also am close in catching up in Rebounds, Blocks, and like i said Steals. Jason Thompson could help me in FG%, Rebounds, some Blocks, some Steals, and decent FT%. plus, i don't know if i can count on my T.Chandler and Camby as much as i used to, since they've been DNP'ing on me lately.

Question: has any other player had a hyper-extended knee(or anything) this year, and how long was that player out for?
Thats Ridiculous
hmm... actually i found exerts in this article about Barbosa's injury and other players who've had it.
http://valleyofthesuns.com/2009/03/18/barb...%80%99t-return/

hey, could someone post a link to the video of Barbosa injuring his knee? i need to judge the severity with my own eyes.
Thats Ridiculous
nevermind. thanks to NBA league pass broadband, i was able to watch the archive footage.
and eww that looked nasty. he totally hyperextended it nastily. it doesn't look season-ending, but it looks more like 2 weeks to me.

ya it did. generally, ankle and knee injuries can be slower to return from, so i think a couple weeks is an optimistic outlook. either way, i would pick up thompson in your case. i would get him if he was available in my league. thompson can help you mostly in rebounds and FG %. he blocks more than barbosa too. he can help a bit in steals but be wary of FT % actually. he barely shoots over 70% and he's kind of streaky. don't forget to factor in the loss of 3's. the suns schedule is actually nice now and it actually gets tougher from here on out. good luck with your choice!

yeah, i dropped Jarrett Jack instead of Barbosa. i got Jason Thompson now, and i feel good about it.
i'm keeping Barbosa, just in case he does come back early and puts up solid numbers. i might need him at that time.
