Dei Lynam on Comcast just said he's getting X-rayed.

sorry for the owners, but yay for me because he's on my oppositions team this week.

Dei says the X-rays were negative; it's officially called a sprain. He will not return.
MRI in the morning.

I have Thaddeus to thank for even getting me into the playoffs to begin with, so losing in the semifinals is not so bad.
Thanks for all your help, Mr. Young. See you next year!

are you flipping kidding me? i saw the 9 minutes played and knew right away that something was wrong. i picked him up exclusively for this week (yes it's a 8 man league and he was on the wire)...wow. terrible
lets hope he gets back on the horse for the next game. grrrr, so mad.

DAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMNNNNNNN! This sucks. I really need him right now. I'm currently contemplating dropping him for Josh Howard since he's on the FA list. Or I'll just wait and see how things go. AHHHH I'm making my push for the crown and I needed him.

I'm about to make that same exact move. I'm in a crucial spot right now.

Hate to see him go down, he's one of my players in my 10-team league and his FG% for the past month has really been a fantasy gold for me.
Anyone saw how he got injured? Did it look that bad as reported? Knowing that it happened 1st quarter and he didn't even tried going back, I suppose he'll mis 2-3 games at minimum.

If you're in an 8 man league it won't be so hard to replace him dude

I was thinking about it on my way into work today, and I think that he'll definitely see more time, as will Reggie Evans. Theo Ratliff got a decent amount of run last night too.
I heard a sound bite from DiLeo this morning in which he said they'd simply juggle the rotation a little, and since Evans had been playing around 20 mins in the last few games, it would seem that Speights will be the primary beneficiary, with Ratliff and Marshall helping out, based on matchups.

But we still don't know the severity of the injury.
Hopefully he doesn't miss any time at all.

Dunno man. I've never heard of a player spraining his ankle and playing the next game straight away. I haven't done any research on it, but off the top of my head I can't remember anyone doing that.

I understand, but this is what is being reported today:

The Sixers said that X-rays were negative and that the MRI exam today would determine if Young had suffered any ligament damage.
The Sixers listed Young as day to day, but he sat in the training room after the game, a bandage wrapped tightly around his ankle, metal crutches leaning against the training table.
A team source said Young was in tremendous pain and had not sprained his ankle this badly since high school.
And this is from Andre Miller (who obviously isn't a team doctor, but I'm sure has seen this kind of thing before), in the same article:
QUOTE
"He'll probably be out a couple of weeks," said Miller, who finished with 18 points and 10 assists. "Hopefully, he'll be back by the first game of the playoffs. He had to be helped off; he couldn't put any weight on it. He needs to get that taken care of and not try to come back too early."

I know that Thad has been an absolute beast lately, but really he's not that hard to replace. He is only a 3 category player: points, steals, and FG%. Ok, 20 points/game will be hard to find, but someone like Nocioni (who I'm going to pickup once we get the MRI results today) will produce similar stats, with more threes and better FT%, in the remaining 8 games. I guess his loss counts more for teams in H2H.

Maybe you get lucky and find a Nocioni or Flip Murray still sitting on the wire in standard leagues, but not a chance in a deep league especially with 9 more games on tap and 6 for the championship round in h2h for the Sixers. It especially stings personally after losing Stephen Jackson a few days back. Nevertheless, didn't need to think twice to pick up Marreese Speights. He's got a ridiculous PER for a rook and solid per minute splits. If Thad misses significant time, Speights could be a good pickup providing he gets consistent playing time and stays out of foul trouble. His game logs suggest he plays consistently well when given consistent playing time which should be the case if Thad is out a while. Still, I sure hope Thad makes a quick recovery.

Thaddeus Young's ankle injury will keep him sidelined for anywhere from two to three weeks, leaving him questionable for the start of the playoffs.
He has a sprain and a bone bruise, but it's hard to say whether or not Marreese Speights is clearly the fantasy benefactor here. Lou Williams and Willie Green should also see a boost, while the Andre's (Iguodala & Miller) are in line to pick up some extra shots without Young around

So who fills in for Young at the opening tip tomorrow night?
“We haven’t decided yet,” DiLeo said, before acknowledging that “basically, we know. We just don’t want to put it out there yet.”
Speights, though, seems to be the logical choice based on his strong performance against Atlanta.
“I like last night’s game because (Speights) got minutes, he produced, he got his confidence back,” DiLeo said. “I think he’ll be a big contributor coming down the stretch, especially with Thad out.”

since the ASG he has posted better stats than Rudy Gay and he's still 20 yrs old
for the next year the question is what the Sixers are goin to do with Elton Brand

I think next year the 76ers will features a lineup of
PG (Andre Miller?) - AI2 - Young - Speights - Brand
I'm pretty sure Dalembert will be on a new team and based on size Young's natural position should be the 3

Thaddeus Young returned to practice on Monday and could play against the Celtics on Tuesday if he doesn't have any setbacks.
He said he'll be able to play back-to-back games (the season finale is Wednesday vs. the Cavaliers), but when asked how long he'll play he said, "maybe 15, 20 minutes." His return would be a much-needed boost for the Sixers, but fantasy owners shouldn't rely on him.
Possible return tonight? Nice bit of news.
